Over the two legs imo Virgil has let himself down.

 

Too good for Scotland, not quite good enough for the very top yet.

What does he do? Go to a mediocre team in England probably.

 

Thought he was * tonight then soon as I said he was starting to improve, gets sent off. Think I might have jinxed um :what:
So its my fault really

 

We may aswell just take him out the back and shot him it's for the best

Maybe Deila should have sensed that too, and took him off and put Ambrose on. Lack of discipline on Virgil's part.

 

He's let himself down but I believe he never did himself justice, he's a much better player than he has shown over the 2 legs.

 

I think this tie has shown his lack of experience but he is young and will learn from it - not as if he has a true leader beside him to learn from.

It's rare to get a new, young, CB partnership and see them go far in Europe

 

Pretty much agree with most here. Never two yellows (the first wasn't even a foul), but knowing that he was on a booking it was a little naive in the second instance. Still, you can't really hold decisions that bad against a defender.

virgil and guidetti are no where near what they think they are...a breeze up here in Europe found out....imo I wouldnt be bothered about guidetti leaving....love to keep VVD tho

Never warmed to the guy but he is a good player. Wont miss his big ego when he's gone.

 

Great player in Scotland but lacking in Europe because of a few things in my opinion; Lack of experience, does not read the game very well and appears to lack concentration which makes him look like he is making last ditch tackles. Anyway very good player who has loads and loads of potential but unfortunately maybe the dutch ego will stop him from going on to fulfil his potential, I hope not.

Still not the finished article but way good enough for the domestic league. Big things will come for him, just needs time to develop.

 

I am fed up with all this talk about Virgil been too good for the SPL . There is a very good explanation why he looks so good in Scotland . In Scotland the opposing teams invariably play with one man up the centre . Ambrose or Denayer mark this player , leaving Virgil the extra defender to stroll around and demonstrate that he is a very fine footballer . In Europe its a different story as all of sudden especially away from home he has to mark a player and as he isn't use to marking a player he can be quite vulunable.
