Quite amazing to think that if things have gone a little differently in our history we could have had 3 European cups and 1 uefa cup.

    Seville for me.

I was absolutely inconsolable and Henrik's performance that night did not deserve a runners-up medal. :54:

Milan 1970 and Seville I say either of them especially 1970 would have made us have years of dominance in European football in my opinion and who knows where we would be today

As pointed out the Big cup games would be obvious choice's for the Club and us all. For me I narrowed it down to Seville and That Sunday as was at them.
Will go with Seville , still makes me proud and sad at the same time. :ynwacelti

We would never have achieved European dominance in the 70's given the board we had regardless of the result against Feyenoord.

That's still the result I would have changed though. If John Hughes hadn't missed a sitter in the dying minutes we would have taken it to a replay and you'd have thought we'd be favourites in that circumstance.

Seville 2003 and the game more recently against rangers that could have won us the league if we had won would have been magnificent on the 25th March 2012

Has to be Seville for me. The 1970 final would have given us more status as a double European Cup winning side but I wasn't alive then so I'll be selfish and say Seville.

The 2006/07 Champions League last 16 defeat to Milan.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/6414945.stm

Simply because I feel we could have won the Champions League that year if Kaka hadn't scored that wonder goal.

Milan went on to beat a beatable Bayern Munich team in the quarter finals, Man Utd who we beat in the group stages then an average Liverpool team.

In my opinion, European football was it's lowest point since the turn of the century. Your Batistutas, Zidanes, Ronaldos, Rivaldos, Figos etc had all retired or were past their best while Messi and Ronaldo weren't what they are now. That was the time to win it.

Last league Celtic v Rangers of 96/97. Up until that defeat I thought this time it was going to be ours. We beat them 2-0 2 weeks prior in the cup but blowing it in the league an seeing them do 9 was beyond sickening.

Obviously the ones that have been posted are all massive games and I agree with all of them. But what about the game at Ibrox on 25 March 2012 where we could of won the title at their ground??

I know it doesn't rank above winning the European or Uefa Cup, just for pure gloating purposes :icon_mrgreen:

'Gaps' like that appear in European football every so often. Next time one comes up, Celtic should be in a better position to have a right go, if we continue successfully with the system we currently have.

I'm voting for the 1970 European Cup Final it's the obvious one for me although
I would take the UEFA cup and a reverse result in any defeat by Oldco in a heartbeat.

I'm glad you understood what I meant because I had a bit of difficulty explaining it. 'Gaps' is probably a better way. There just wasn't the same depth of quality there was 5 years previous and 5 years later. Anyone could have won the CL that year - PSV got to the quarters.

The correct answer to this question is the 1970 European Cup Final. However I am going to be selfish and choose Seville. I would dearly love to see Celtic lift a European trophy and I wasn't alive in 1970 so it has to be Seville for me.
