I donate through payroll giving to a couple of charities close to my heart....along with other donations.

Would never sign up for those selling it on the street or at my door

Have a couple of Direct Debits going out for local childrens Hospice and McMillan.

I also regularly pop some shrapnel into the charity tins of the old folks standing outside the supermarket and the tins on the counters of shops.
I don't give anything or sign up to anything through those student charity beggar arseholes who chase you down the street. Get * you gap-year *.

Yes. Have done since I was young becausey parents taught me to appreciate that there are those a lot less fortunate than me. I know there are certain charities where the money goes to costs/wages rather than causes but if you spend a bit of time researching, you can find out where your money goes.

Me and a few mates rose £50 for the Yorkhill childrens hospital as part of a college unit. Was good to raise something and pass rather than just doing the bare minimum.

£6 a month to UNICEF. Had some guy at my door recently (secure entry flat, so who the * let him in) asking me if I gave to charity. Said Unicef, he told me how I should ignore the "wee African weans and give closer to home". Have to say as far as sales pitches go, it wasn't the best.

Always donate to fundraisers if they are collecting for something that has affected my family etc.

Couple of quid is nothing to me, whereas it can make a massive difference to someone else.

Yes, but whilst in Prague a few years ago with friends we were putting food in bins. Suddenly a homeless person would take it out. So when we returned with our kids we would always buy extra and leave it on walls or seating.

Regular donations yes but only to those charities I have a connection to such as cancer research, heart disease, children's hospice etc. I never give anything to beggars in the street and don't sign up to any monthly set donation.

Well canvassers are a plague. I could give half my money to charity and still never give 2 seconds to the canvassers on the street. They're cynical marketers who prey on people's good will in order to make a commission.

To be fair to the people who moan about those who approach you in the street, they really are a nightmare at times. I was genuinely in a rush and said so several times yet had this annoying girl following me from the bottom to the very top of Buchanan Street firing all these facts and figures at me! I don't give you charities on a monthly basis(direct debit) but do give donations in supermarkets etc. Also, if I was giving donations it would be to a charity I researched where all or most of the money goes to the charity instead of the paying the employees

I volunteer and donate £10 a month for a certain charity.

I don't ever give to charity guys on the street and rarely give to homeless folk or junkies.

    Alas, no.

I can currently throw the 'I'm only 19' excuse at the ones that come door-knocking, they generally want a 'house holder' and that I am certainly not.

Some still persist, and I then have to plead poverty. 'I'm saving up all of my spare cash for education, honestly', seems to do the trick.

Happens to me all the time. My route from train station to uni and back requires me to walk past them and they're always trying to stop me, told one to * off once, don't think they expected that :smiley-laughing002: I was in a hurry though

Yes, stick all my spare 5s, 10s & 20s in a tub for JAWT. Try to steer clear of larger charities who are probably paying more in wages than to the charitable causes themselves.

And they folk on the street are an annoyance, plus constant ads on gumtree looking to employ folk as well which makes you wonder.
