This is my number 1 choice. I'd pay about £3.5 million for him and he will be worth every penny. He is a Hooper that can header. See if we managed to get him and keep Hooper then that would be our best striker for since Larsson Hartson/Sutton.

Hooper Austin and stokes in 3 up front would be unreal! Changing Sammy with any the front 3 or out on the wing

Hooper: a guy who's played in the Champions League and Europa League, and would have been selected for an England squad had he not been injured at the time.

Austin: a guy who's never played at a higher level than the Championship.

They're worth the same amount of money now? 'Aye, ok.' :56:

You seem to forget Hooper was sold for £2.5m; not £7m.

I agree! Unfortunately the general conception down in Engerland is that Hooper plays for a mediocre team in a pub league :87:

Austin is out of our price range!

He's not at all. He's a finisher who does * all outside the box.

Burnley's form picked up once he was out for the season as his replacement actually brought others into play.

These players look useful but they're not really. It's why Mario Gomez doesn't get a game despite scoring more than 30 goals a season. It's why Le Fondre and Darren Bent also spent the season on the bench. I've heard some mention it's why Utd didn't win much with Van Nistelrooy and why he never won the Champions League.

    * these types of players, Austin's not on Hooper's level.

Not * Van Nistelrooy, because he was class, but we don't want Charlie Austin here. I've seen him 3 times and he's not worth anywhere near 7 million imo.

He'z playin for burnley just now. He recently got done for assaulting a couple of swindon fans who supposedly asked him why he was doin coke in the toilet of a nightclub. Even if it's not true, why risk £6-7m on someone who is involved in that *

If 7 million is what is wanted and required to sign him then * that for a laugh. He's a very very poor mans Chris Sutton, and I'm talking Sudan poor. Next.

£7million would buy you Marco van Ginkel or someone like that. Charlie Austin was a good buy about a year ago. Now it's just silly money. It's not like he's made it in the big league yet and the price is right up their with some of the best players in Holland's Eredivisie.

We should have signed him for £1-2million 1/2 years ago. Now though he is an over-priced poor mans Jordan Rhodes who isnt even very good himself.

Entering the final year of his contract now. It would be a disgrace if they still manage to get £7-8m for him but knowing English football the chances are they will :38:

If you are after a goalscorer he is. 27 goals in 43 games for a team that narrowly avoided relegation is a great record.

Have to agree with that - the idea that Rhodes isn't very good is bizarre IMO.
