Amazing to think at one point Friedel and Given were at Celtic at the same time albeit as a trialist and youngster.

Dont get me wrong i love him but i think its a bit late now.

Also, if you ask me its one of them "I can say that i played for Celtic" stunt. The same as the 2 Keanes.

    Incorrect.

The only possible chance Given has of ending his career at Celtic is if Forster is the subject of an 8 figure bid from down South in the next year. Otherwise he has no chance.

He isn't the same goalie anymore.

Forster is a far better keeper and Given is too expensive to sit on the bench.

No need to even consider him in my opinion.

Don't need him. Aside from the fact Forster is getting better every game , Given is done.

As Marti said,Celtic FC is not some retirement home.We have a more that capable keeper in Fraser Forster, and he's only going to get better.

He was on a free not long ago and we wanted him and he choose Villa. Hope he's lost his chance to play for us again.

Did most of you saying 'get to *' we aren't a retirement home'' even read what HE actually said and not what the paper did. He didn't say he wants to retire Celtic, just some day in the future he would like to play for us.

“I never say never in football and it’s no secret that I would love to play for Celtic.
“I don’t know if that will be possible financially in the future and I am a Villa player.
“But the fact that I never played even a minute for the first team at Parkhead when I was there as a kid has always been a disappointment.
“Maybe that could change some day, who knows?”

All I get from that is he is quite disappointed he actually played for his boyhood heroes and never got the chance to play a first team game. Every player wants to retire at a club he supports, it doesn't mean he thinks we are poor quality team.

We wanted him when he was good. Not good enough now IMO.

He can forget it. Forster is a top keeper and is young with a great future. Given won't get a game, wouldn't have him as back up either

My heart would love to see him in Celtic colors for at least one game.

My head on the other hand, says he's had his opportunity to come here when he's been relevant and he chose not to.

£4k a week, one year deal, on the bench. That would be my offer.

Forster is better than him in my opinion. There would be no value in signing him.

No way. He's lost his chance with us. Forster is good enough for me and Lukas.

Did we not want to bring him back in January 2010 on a permanent or even loan deal ? I recall reading at the time his preference was to stay down south and he got that wish when he signed for McLeish's Aston Villa for £3.5m on a 5 year contract !!

You honestly think Celtic would have forked out close to £4m on a goalkeeper?

As much as I love Given he has probably missed the boat on coming to Celtic. When Boruc left and we were looking for a keepr that was his shot but nothing happened for whatever reason and now with Forster looking so good and at such a young age I would say that the window of opportunity for Given at Celtic is probably closed at this point.
I will say this from having spent time working with Aston Villa this summer he is a genuine Celtic fan.
