We can't afford to do that though, that's the problem. We need to make sure when he gets anywhere near the box there are players throwing thereselves infront of the ball.

Force him deeper and deeper... but even then you're not guarenteed anything, as he is an exceptional passer as well.

Man marking job for Kayal or Broony. Do not leave his side the whole night. Wherever he goes, one of them goes with him. It probably still won`t work but its worth a go

In all honesty, bar an air rifle or some leg irons we are as good as *. However, so are Spartak and Benfica, so at least we are on an even keel with them!

I seen Greece do this against Argentina in the world cup cant remember which Greek player it was but the guy just ran round with him and didnt let him out of his sight all game, and it worked well, I think Wanyama could be the man to do this job, just a thought what does everyone else think of this ?

Or Broony could do the job even Kayal !

I've found in the past the only times Barca have been stopped is when a team sets up with 11 men behind the ball and stick a man to track Messi all night. Even with these tactics they still tend to break teams down, so on top of that we need to hope they have a bit of an off day. The games they have lost in the past have been down to either silly individual errors or bad decisions, I really do believe they are the best club side to ever play.

He may not even play and even at that, we are still *.

We can only be organised and hard working. They are not unbeatable but they are as close to it as any football team has been. Even the likes of Madrid, the 2nd best team just now, have to tailor their tactics to them but then they have world class players in every position.

Slightly OT but how brilliant is it to see a side go absolutely gung ho no matter who they are against? Even when they lose and people criticise them they forget to realise that the reason they lost is because they went for it ridiculously. The best "footballing" side without a doubt.

Ahem, back to the actual thread, get Broony to hold onto his shoulders and never let go for the 90 mins.

As other posters have said have Wanyama or Brown as his shadow the whole night though can't let ourselves be too obsessed with him as the rest of the team are dangerous too :help:

The reality is, if Barcelona are in the mood and have there shooting boots on then it's curtains. This is a team that have taken 6 off Madrid at the Bernabeu. We need to hope they play awful and we play better than we have ever played before. The more set pieces we get, the better chance we have, that is our best hope because we have a much bigger side than them.

I'm currently looking into funding a cadre of ninjas to take care of business before we step onto the park.

Funding is proving an issue though. Anyone who wishes to donate can send to operationhobblehim@justgiving.co.uk
