the spl is basically won, to make any impact in the Champions League we need a target man who bullies defenders, has pace and can dribble with the ball, is simon * any of the above? No! waste of money

He's actually not as bad as some people make out in my opinion. I thought when he played in the euros he did reasonably well. But as people have said, he is not what we need.

He is a big improvement on Rasmussen and Murphy,he'd fit perfectly into the team if and when Stokes or Hooper pick up an injury.

On SSN (TV) the 'Just In' yellow box came up in the corner and the guy said that Celtic had made a new approach for Simon *.

So.... Samaras or Didier Drogba? :icon_mrgreen:

I'm a big fan of Simon *, very similar to Hooper. Bit less of a finisher and bit more on the ball though.

He's only really similar to Hooper in physique. * is all about work rate. He will work his balls off for the team but when it comes down to sheer ability he's not up to much. The guy can finish but he's not as good as Hooper at finishing by any stretch of the imagination.

Can he score a header ? That's what we need in a striker imo.

I think Hoopers work rate is one of his biggest qualities as well but it's there build that makes them similar, both quite happy dropping deep, taking ball into feet and spreading the play around. He's nowhere near Hooper in terms of finishing to be honest but having * and Stokes both here we are guarenteed goals when Hooper is injured or Stokes is going through a bad patch.

Thought he had a poor time at the euros. Doyle was the one chasing down and hurrying defences when he actually got on. Didn't think * showed to many good touches or passes either. I have always been a fan of his though and think I posted some videos in his previous thread which shows he has a lot of natural finishing ability and withsome game time who knows

    Same :50:

Just from the stats you can see when he has a regular starting place in the team he will score goals!

    Swindon - 07/08 - Started 36, scored 15
    Swindon - 08/09 - Started 50, scored 32
    WBA (Championship) - 09/10 - Started 23, scored 10

Then for the past 2 seasons he's rarely started games. Reckon he'd be a decent player for us if we sign him.

Doesn't fill me with confidence tbh. He can be decent but how much would we be looking to spend; fee & wages? Would he merit being a top earner at Celtic? To me that's what he'd be looking for with wages, and WBA looking for a decent fee. Personally I'd give this one a miss.
