The more I think about all this the crazier some people's outrage over Neil Lennon's comments seems.

Neil Lennon comes to Celtic as a player and a die hard Tim. He plays for the club for 6 years, captains the team to 2 Championship wins, makes his feelings towards Rangers known every time he set foot on the park against them and then leaves for a while.

He comes back to the club, does some coaching, gets the manager's job and openly states his appreciation of the Celtic support, and the Green Brigade in particular, many times. He stays on as Celtic manager even though his life is put in danger by doing the job. The fans think he is a legend and cannot speak highly enough of him.

    THEN.................

He makes one ill advised jibe which is aimed at a few renegade fans who put up an idiotic banner which was only ever going to draw negative attention towards the club.

All of a sudden, all the stuff Neil Lennon has done over the last 10 years gets thrown out the window and he's getting called a * and people want him sacked.

Does anybody realise how * crazy that is?

Coz I'll tell you what, it's mind boggling to me how any Celtic fan can turn so viciously on a man like Neil Lennon just because of one throwaway remark.

If people can turn on Neil Lennon that quickly, and that easily, I would have to question how sincerely they were supporting him in the first place.

I personally think he should not be commenting on such matters full stop. He is their to manage the team and should really leave off field matters to Lawwell and co.

TBH mate he has said a few things that has been below the belt over the last few months. I backed him 100% but you have to draw the line somewhere!

I'll back Neil Lennon 110% whilst he is in the job as I think he has the potential to be a great Celtic manager, but his comments on this matter were ill informed in my opinion.

I suspect if he had the chance again, he'd swerve the question.

I admire his honesty in saying what he feels, but on this occasion I think he slipped up. Possibly with it being a great performance, and the headlines being all negative, it pushed him to respond in an angry manner that wouldn't have happened 24 hours later.

The fear for me now is that there is a wedge developing between the GB and the club officials at a time when the support were receiving fantastic praise. It could spell an episode where all eyes are on the GB for the wrong reasons.

Journalists must be chewing their pens with excitement.

We were 100% united after the Hearts game, it is unbelievable that the officials made these comments over such a trivial incident and they have split the fans at a time when there should have been no bad feeling.

Lennon has been the real disappointment though, Peter Lawwell talks that much pish now that you just ignore it and Bankier is just an old fool.

Short memories spings to mind now that the air is clear and we can breathe a bit more easly the fans who do not support Neil now know they cant have it all their own way like the Super Moderator says I find it strange on how people can turn on someone who in my opinion lives and breathes Celtic FC.

    Aye very short memories indeed.........

It was only 8 months ago that Lenny was going over to the Green Brigade and saluting them.

You'll probably find he'll still do that.

Just because they are providing an atmosphere does not give them carte blanche to do what they like.

I don't see much issue with the banner personally but just as the support have the right to display their feelings using banners Lennon has the right to give his opinion on them.

    Of course he does.

Just as we have got the right to be critical of his opinion.

Although I don't agree with his opinion, the way he came across especially with the spelling jibe was an embarrassment and he should apologise immediately.

My wee cousin is a st holder in 112 and loved Lennon. He has dyslexia and has been made fun of and bullied at school in the past but he's a great wee guy. He would never admit it but it must be a kick in the stones for the manager of the club he loves making these comments.

Oh please. Give me a break.

Reading through this thread just makes me laugh at "the best fans in the world" tag. Aye, right.

He has made his opinion clear.....he has turned his back on his heritage for the sake of appeasing the anti republican Celtic board.

    * Neil Lennon. Leave now.

I don't care about tags. He is a disgrace to the club with those comments. It must * people off that we don't all go with the board and managers opinion. I'm sorry I make my own decisions and form my own opinions.
