He'll be fine once Brown is back, he hasn't been totally awful. Just was in Europe, his performance against Dundee United was excellent for example.

Last night the midfield suited him though, Fletcher and Morrison are workers off the ball. That allows Mulgrew to play his game.

It's not just the off-ball stuff (if I understand you correctly) that he's struggled with, though; he's been giving the ball away or getting robbed all season yet last night, when being pressed by some of the best in the world, he was turning and passing like the Mulgrew of old.

If I didn't know any better I'd suspect that currently at Celtic he doesn't have a clue where his teammates will be at any given point and has to waste that split second looking for them.

That's what I mean by the off the ball stuff as well mate, there's options there for him and it's easy to play like that for him when there are options.

We don't have options in our team just now, apart from 2 games this season, KR at home and Dundee United. He'll settle into, Charlie had the mental strength to do so, he's also a very clever footballer, he'll come up trumps again. Despitr everybody currently enjoying trying to tear him to shreds.

I actually thought he had a decent game away in Maribor also. He was given time to pick a pass that night though to be fair as they sat very deep.

Aye, forgot about that game actually. Also think Kayal being around him helps him as well, he's our one midfielder who always tries to move into space to recieve the ball.

Aye, agree with you on Kayal, he is always keen to get on the ball. Kayal appears to be finding a bit of form in my opinion, and can count himself very unlucky to have been subbed in the games he has been. He has been far better than Johansen & Mulgrew I think.

Aye, he'd be my first choice just now. Think subbing him is viewed as the 'easy option'

I just can't fathom how he went from being a CB rock to where he is now, it's like his "versatility" is actually his worst enemy

It is and was at the tail end with lenny, no matter gown good he played..

Mulgrew played his best game in ages in my opinion and the likes of kroos and co were fairly quiet..
His only fault for me was the second goal but that was McArthur that left him *, Mulgrew was too slow to react..

The red was a joke, he clearly never realised and wasn't wasting time which we all know..
He does gas out towards ends of games and shouldn't hit free kicks(for goal)..

He was good with and without the ball up and down the park all night, our best central muffler by far.. He's been great for Scotland beside broony in all honesty..

He is one of the worst players in our starting XI over the past few games. Hoping he gets dropped when Brown returns. Used to love him in CB a few years back though...

Bar McGregor and Gordon, the whole Celtic team have been awful so far.

Picking out individuals under the circumstances is a tad harsh.

I've said, as have many, and the comment earlier summed it up with a touch of humour, Deila is attempting to use our players in some sort of Fantasy football way.

Deila's inexperience and naivety shone through early which he admitted by quickly attempting to tighten the formation. This worked to the most Maribor away but Deila made an utter * of it at home with some bizarre choices.

Anyway, his toys, his pram. If he want's a sprinter to run a marathon and a long distance runner to do a high jump, that's his choice.

Imo Kayal and Van Dijk had also goos performances.

Excellent points. I think sometimes we forget that it's not always the one who looks bad who is failing to do his job properly.

It's all very confusing at the minute. If there's one player you'd expect to understand what Ronny's trying to implement, it'd be Johansen; yet he's looked one of the worst.
Hopefully Deila was watching Mulgrew last night and it gave him food for thought.

Looks like he is out for about 6 weeks, injured his knee on Scotland duty. Did anybody know about this?

Looks like Broony is returning just in time.

    * sake!

Can't catch a break, time for others to try and cement there positions but Mulgrew is a loss. Not just in ability but his versatility allows a lot of room in in game changes.

Wonder if he did it during the game.

Maybe done it when he kicked the ball away just prior to the red card.

Or he played through an injury and made it worse. Type of guy who would fight through the pain barrier, isn't he?

Where you seeing that reported Sean ?
