The incident during the match between Boca Juniors and River Plate, the Libertadores, follows without a culprit. On Friday (15), according to the Argentine newspaper "Olé", police expertise concluded that the pepper gas released in the River players did not come from the fans, but the playing field itself.

Forensics says it has found no cutting or drilling the bars that separate the Boca fans lawn. In this way, they would not have to be responsible for putting the substance into the tunnel passed by the players of River Plate.

The game had 0-0 and the players returned for the second time when athletes River Plate claimed to have been hit by a pepper gas. After more than an hour and a half strike, it was decided that the game would be suspended.

Olé has said that this might be some kind of war within the Boca Barra Brava, between people from different parts of the city - San Justo, Virreyes and South Central of Buenos Aires vs Lomas de Zamora. They are apparently fighting over money they make from selling tickets and so one fraction (Lomas de Zamora on that bottom tier I think) decided to do this to show up the other one, which is tied more to the club officials and has access to more tickets.

The drone was controlled by Hernán Cantón, related to Santiago Lancry, a old hooligan leader at Boca. The fat one...

Another terrible low for Argentina. Away fans already banned, now the players aren't even safe from the business wars in the stands. Next step will be all games behind closed doors Egypt style as the government doesn't have the backbone to get to grips on these gangs, they need the gangs, football doesn't matter to them.

"The investigation found that what the players were sprayed with is liquid capsaicin, the active ingredient in pepper spray.
The hypothesis that emerged from Boca's front office, and claimed that the chemical product which had affected River players had been thrown by a police officer, lasted less than 24 hours. Yesterday the first results of investigations conducted on Friday morning in the hallways and the shirts of the players came out, revealing that the substance that was used to injure Ponzio, Kranevitter and company is capsaicin, an orange pigment extracted from red peppers that is the main ingredient in homemade pepper spray. It was packaged in a half liter bottle, making it even clearer that this was a premeditated action by a fan. The bottle also contained another toxic liquid fluid still could not be identified accurately. The mixture was thrown through the fence and was spreading through the walls and the staircase that connects the visitor locker room with the field. Capsaicin is a substance that, at high doses, causes pain by stimulation of nerves in the skin.
According to doctors and chemists consulted by Olé, capsaicin causes keratitis (corneal inflammation), allergies, irritation and burns like first grade abrasions. It is best not to rinse the eyes with cold water only to wash with saline (compound in which usually preserved contact lenses) for 10 or 15 minutes without interruption. It is even possible that the irritation spread to different parts of the body because of the rubbing with infected water. What is not disputed is that the players wouldn't have been able to go on playing. According to the seriousness of each case (depending on the amount of liquid thrown and the affected area), recovery can take between three days and one week."

Boca have been kicked out. River will play Cruzeiro in the Last 8.

They have been fined £127,000 and must play four home games behind closed doors.

Its a pathetic CONMEBOL decision. Attack players and get a wee slap on the wrist in South America. CONEMEBOL "punishments" for serious incidents are famously limp-wristed. 2004, Club América fans storm the pitch to attack São Caetano players, fined $50,000 US and three games behind closed doors. 2013, Corinthians fans kill a child with a rocket in Bolivia but are only fined $200,000 US and play a few games behind closed doors.

The fact Boca are the biggest club in Argentina also helped them. The AFA and those that need a mob for rent would have been putting in their tuppence worth on all of this, hoping to keep the fans of the biggest club on side. Boca get this small punishment while smaller Argentine teams like Nueva Chicago ("fans" bludgeoned to death a Tigre fan) or Almirante Brown (hit the Estudiantes keeper with some stun grenade thing) have had crippling points deductions and stadium closers while the big boys get a wee slap on the wrist.

Boca should be banned for a few years.

Would actually expect them to play only 2 games behind closed doors and not the 4.

aye one rule for some and another for the bigger clubs.

Well if it is anything like Corinthians stadium ban they'll probably cut the ban down to no fans at one game, then wipe the slate clean again

Peñarol are playing Nacional at 8PM tonight in Montevideo. I wonder if they'll be able to out do their cousins across the River tonight. Home made water cannon? A taser gun? Old school flare to the chest?

    So many violent possibilities.

And Rodrigo Mora's tweet. "Two times in six months" :smiley-laughing002:

FIFA looking to take away CONMEBOL's .5 spot from the WC and giving it to whoever their playoff opponents end up being (usually either CONCACAF or AFC). The 5th place CONMEBOL team usually ends up winning that playoff (only Australia beating Uruguay for the 2006 WC have won the playoff) so it's basically taking away a spot from them. The reasoning is that they're not happy with the light punishment handed to Boca by the confederation. It's sad though because it likely won't do anything to the big-money federations in South America, but it would be humorous if Brazil or Argentina end up in that 5th spot next time around.

Inter x Santa Fe tonight at 11.30PM in the Libertadores last 9. Winner will play UANL Tigres of Mexico in the semi-final. Santa Fe hold a 1 x 0 lead from the first leg.

    http://cricfree.tv/watch/live/sc-internacional-vs-independiente-santa-fe-live-streaming

And Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio is the new São Paulo manager, leaving Atlético Nacional. All our US users should remember him, and since his MLS days he has grown to be the most impressive manager in South America. Took Atlético Nacional to a hand full of league titles, a few cup wins and runner-up in the Sudamericana. He played attacking football there.

A great coup for São Paulo, but the stupidity of people that control the club means he will not be giving the time to create his team.

Elsewhere the same crap merry-go-round of managers continues. Cristóvão Borges replaces Vanderlei Luxemburgo at Flamengo. Borges was only sacked by Fluminense last month.

Roger Machado replaces Luiz Felipe Scolari at Grêmio.

    Mineiraço parte dois.

Inter last Brazilians standing. They completely dominated this game. Their passing kind of let them down and Santa got pretty physical too.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj889P2QVMU[/ame]

They felt the need for a good old scuffle at the end.
