Ok so after reading Phil Mac's blog previously posted and all the ongoing debates in here... I thought i'd make a poll to see how many people find it acceptable and non-acceptable to sing these loosely named "Offensive" songs at Celtic Park or away games.

I for one am proud of the clubs irish history and feel it acceptable to sing these songs as my father was brought up singing them to keep the history of Irelands struggles alive, as was I, and hopefully as my children will.

I am not sure if this has already been done but, as said, just looking to put some numbers to the cause.

i don't mind BOTB that much but i cringe when i hear "up the RA" chants. Even though there were only about 10 seconds of "up the RA" chants at the sheep and hibs that is all it takes to get done.

Hate roamin in the gloamin and the bit of the Celtic Symphony when the fans sing ''and it says oh ah up the RA!'' i think some try to change it though to ''Oh ah Samaras'' but still like. Great song without that bit.

All rebel songs should be acceptable. They aren't illegal and they only offended people who don't know what the songs we sing are about. People in this country are offended in this country by the colour green and the word Ireland. We would need to fold not to offend these bigots.

I am all for the likes of BOTOB being sung but when that part of the Celtic symphony gets repeatadly sung over and over its cringeworthy. Last season when Rangers were getting done by UEFA there was a period where they were saying "they do it as well" and it got a lot of media attentino.. it was our chance to get it up them and leave those lines alone. But for some reason in the games that followed the ooh ahh up the ra line was sung so much more than before as if on purpose and I cringed every time.

Shouldn't be sung at Celtic matches as it will only lead do bad things happening to the club.

They should not be sung. Like jock stein said they have no effect on the players. infact they probably have a negative effect on Kelvin Wilson and Hooper. I cringe when I hear them sung, why can't we just sing about Celtic? Not something that has nothing to do with the club, thankfully.

Why does everyone "cringe" when they hear "Oh ah up the RA"? Its part of the Celtic Symphony and it also isn't illegal. If Ueffa didn't like it we would have been charged by now and that's the same for every other rebel song we sing.

:50: I say we ban IJCGE, YNWA, FOA and that too, how dare people sing songs and enjoy themselves at the football when they are not singing about football.

Infact if I ever see someone turning up at the turnstiles without a Celtic top or scarf on I want them banned from getting in. How dare anyone try to go to football without wearing football clothing

There’s nothing wrong with Republican nostalgia or Irish nationalism (that is part of Celtic’s identity). Songs like “Let the People Sing” are legitimate as most can relate to oppression and anti-imperialism.

But there’s no unanimity regarding IRA chants (many Celtic fans do not regard the IRA as being a political relevance). There is probably a very considerable element that objects to bombing people into an objective.

Celtic fans are unified in their empathy with Irish nationalism but not the manner in which such an agenda should be facilitated (which is why the SDLP, IRA or Communist Party of Ireland should be kept out of proceedings with the focus being on where we are united in a particular viewpoint).

You keep mentioning the legalities. Whilst politics can’t be deemed illegal is it acceptable to alienate parts of the fan base?

How can nationalist or socialist Celtic supporters relate to IRA chanting? Furthermore it is illogical to sing about an irrelevant (in today’s terms) entity.

Celtic fans never seem to be against each other singing rebel songs at games. Only on here. Which could means that people don't have the balls to complain at games and would rather complain behind the safety of a computer screen. Or it could be that most people on here don't attend home and away games.

    :50: I agree here.

I have never heard any Celtic fans I know calling parts of songs cringeworthy or embarassing or thinking they shouldnt be sung.
