    Great post.

Pity it was spoiled by the theory if its good enough for orangemen then its okay for Cairde.
Is that how far astray the provos politics have went that their now supporting green orangemen type marches.
Quietly forgetting that even just this week former members of the provo machine were handed 20 years for political actions 30 years ago.
The Provisionals front group in Scotland, Cairde na hEireann, have now become what Connolly called correctly a 100 years ago, The Pope's Brass Band.
Plenty of bluster and no politics.

Bobby Sands and his comrades must wonder why they gave their souls for such an outcome.
Somehow i don't think it was for a brit pay check or a bucky brigade hibs walk round Denny.

    Sad.

First of all I would like to point out to you that I am not a supporter of Sinn Fein and I am not familiar with the divide between different factions in Scotland but reading between the lines on the posts on this thread, I could take a solemn guess as to who is who and correct me if I am wrong, Cairde na hEireann are pro peace process and WOSBA I presume would be West of Scotland band alliance and would favour the groups who are continuing the armed struggle?

If I was a neutral viewing this thread, I would stand to judge the last comment from Padmill as very fair and understanding of the point that is being made here.

    Quote
I am a member of Cairde...and will gladly be attending the Easter commemoration, regardless of any differences the two organisation have had in the past....and don't see fit to undermine any parades organised by either in the name of Republicanism

If there is a point to be made regarding the discrimination of Irish people living in Scotland, IMO any march opposing this should be supported regardless of how you feel about the struggle here in Ireland and it should be seen as a unity of Irish people standing up against this rather than discontent among each other which would only be a much pleasing scenario for those who stand against us.

It is fine to stand up for your own ideals and views but no matter what side your
allegiance lies, name calling and bitchiness only stands to deepen resentment and weaken a very important point as to, how can we stand up against discrimination from other sources when we discriminate against each other.

I am not here to sit on the fence on the politics of this subject as I do have my own political views but I think in a situation like this, it is important that we see common ground and not stand to be divided and conquered.

If the two factions in Scotland do come together in respect of the Hunger strikers then it would be expected that this would be totally dignified and differences put aside. Anything else would be an insult to their memory.:shamrock:

Not long back from today's parade in Denny.

    Wen't absolutely smashing.

Four bands in attendance: Irish Republican Martyrs FB, Vol.Sean McIlvenna R.F.B, Vol. Martin Doherty R.F.B and Coatbridge R.F.B

Approximately 200 protesters where in attendance, Union Jacj and Loyalist palamilitary flags being flown by many. AS well as shouts of "* *"...there were many a shout of "Catholic *" and "Irish *" to say but a few.

This was a demonstration against anti-Irish racism in Scotland.......and certainly backed up the case of such discrimination against our group.

I would like to add that I have never seen such an ugly group of people in all my days, until I witnessed the gathering of huns today in Denny....absolutely revolting:38:

^Padmill there were protestors at an anti racism march?

I shouldn't be surprised man but that's just such a sad reflection of what people in this this country can be like at times.
It's really sad.I don't think they realise what they're like.

Oh yes...a couple of hundred protesters all along the route of the parade.......armed with cameras, butcher's aprons and the usual vile chants of anti-Irish racism.

The bands had to get a police escort from the police from the finishing point bac on tohe motorway.

    I agree Kenny........* neanderthalic twats.

It was reported on Scottish news today at 12pm.....can't find it anywhere though?

It's not even Rangers supporters man,I mean I know some of them and they support their team, they hate us,fine.Fair enough.
It's the fact that there is some people who can't even bear to see people standing up for themselves and protesting against racism and sectarianism that's outrageous.
The people who protested that march were probably the same ones that tried to participate in an EDL/SDL demo in Glasgow.....
    Bitter racist thugs.

As far as I'm aware this wasn't a Republican march, not anything to do with Ireland, just highlighting racism. The police should be ashamed that they never kept the idiot protestors away from it.....We all know what happens when the Orange parades(that are spreading unrepentant sectarianism, like it or not hun lurkers)are protested against...

Provisional Sinn Fein now enforce british rules and british laws in occupied Ireland, There not a Republican group anymore more constitutional nationalists, They gave up the right to call themselves Republicans when Martin McGuinness stood side by side with the RUC main man and Peter Robinson of the DUP and called Republicans 'traitors, gangs & conflict junkies' He also asked for people to pass on information of Republicans on to the RUC so they could be jailed and called for no protest against the british queen (commander in cheif of british armed forces) on her upcoming visit to the free state, Oh and not very Republican of him to be sitting at a wee tory tea party now was it when it was the very same tory group who killed Bobby Sands and his 9 comrades !!!

    Wow...nice wee shpeel:rolleyes:

The four bands there today were REPUBLICAN flute bands and representing the republican-minded irish in Scotland.

I hardly think the thread about an anti-Irish rally is hardly place for you to try and have a sly wee dig...and if you do...you should be ashamed of yourself lad:38:

The bands done great work attending there today,I wish I had been there tbh.

Wouldnt playing Republican music at a anti-irish racism / discrimiantion march be discriminatory, as there are many Irish people in Scotland who arent into republican stuff ?? Or was it just irish folk music they were playing ?
