Good choice, he already knows so well what is required to play for that shirt.

    Should be interesting to see.

Would love Kayal to get it. If he stays for years here, there's no doubt he will soon become captain anyway.

There's a few players in that squad that have the ability to be captain. Mulgrew, Wilson, Kayal, Ledley ect. It's nice to have, especially after last season when we were struggling to find players with leadership qualities.

    Our captincey goes:

    1.Broony
    2.Maloney
    3.Majstorovic
    4.Wilson

They are all suspended or injured so it is likely to go to him. I would gave mulgrew but im happy non the less

He'll be a good captain, he already boosts the team just by being on the pitch.

Broony bhoy better hope he keeps his form up because as an earlier post suggested kayal has been captain in everything but name, and if he excels with the honour that is to captain the hoops then broony could be waving bye bye to the captaincy :bbpd:. But is it not refreshing that we can talk about having to great leaders on the field as to last year when there was none in site. Cmon Ricky Burns :shamrock:

Biram Kayal is likely to be given the captain’s armband for tomorrow’s Scottish Cup tie at Inverness.

The 22-year-old Israeli has made an amazing impact on Celtic this season and hasn’t been in a losing side since coming back from injury at the turn of the year.

Captain Scott Brown will miss tomorrow’s match through suspension, as will Mark Wilson, with deputy skipper Daniel Majstorovic ruled out through injury.

That leaves Neil Lennon with a decision to make over who leads the team out with Kayal almost certain to be given the honour.

The Celtic boss has been hugely impressed by the impact that the Israeli has had on his side since being selected for the new year win at Ibrox.

Without having played a full game in three months Kayal combined brilliantly with Joe Ledley as Celtic won 2-0 thanks to second half goals from Georgios Samaras.

Kayal went on to win the January Player of the Month award and was badly missed when Celtic lost 2-0 away to Motherwell- the only defeat of 2011.
