Usually this club spend weeks dragging out signings, and the fact that we haven't really been strongly linked with anyone recently, with only a day left in the transfer window, gives me the feeling that we won't be signing anyone. I think it's ridiculous that we don't have a new centre-back in now. Our only actual centre-backs are Maj, who is too old to be counted on being fit for every game, Thomas "Glass legs" Rogne and - * forbid - Glenda.

The thought of Glenda playing in an OF match makes me break into a sweat.

The only guy we've been strongly linked to is Wilson, and it doesn't look like Billy "the hun" Davies will let us have him.

We have till tomorrow, I think we will go back to Forest and pay then the £500k they are asking for now.

We could always offer Glenda in a transfer swap along with £600k

We haven't been strongly linked with anyone? :56:

We couldn't be more public about our pursuit of Kelvin Wilson this window if we tried.

Problem he has not played for a while and wont have match fitness. I agree tho get him in but we need a loan move as well, especially as we dont know about how long Thomas and Danny will be actualy out.

We don't know how close we are tbh, Celtic could be doing some secret work behind the scenes

If Thomas hadnt got injured yesterday I am sure nothing would have happened as Maj will be back in a week, 2 at the most. We wont get away with Mark Wilson and Mulgrew at the Zoo, but to be fair, if that was the worst scenario I could live with it.

Lenny has had the better of Smith so far.

As i said in another thread, the problem is

    1) if we bring one in, with our budget and at this late stage, he's prob going to be nothin special (Gabbidon and Campbell spring to mind)

    2) whoever we bring in, in theory he will only be starting for a couple of weeks. good chance he wont have been playing so wont have match fitness, He'll also be new to his teammates, new to the country, new to the league. He'll have no time to settle in and will be thrown straight in at deep end.

With these 2 things together, is it any better than what we already have?

We will get one, we always seem to get the late signings.

If we dont get a CB then get someone out of the terraces they would do better than glenda anyway

With Rogne now out for a while i think its fairly certain we'll get someone in before tommorow night.

I back Celtic in the Wilson transfer fiasco.

Davies the hun is notriously difficult too deal with and will want every last penny he can out of us.

Im not for paying 600k odd for a defender we've already got in the summer and is currently out the picture at Forrest. Whos kidding who?

That being said - its imperitive we get someone in.

A loan or whatever - it doesnt matter. Just someone who can do a job in the short-term until the end of the season or until the other CB's are fit.

Their shouldnt be any excuse for us not getting a CB in - and their wont.

I expect us too have a CB in - big time.

im more than happy with mulgrew and CB, infact i prefer him to maj. we only need one signing at CB. sammy, stokes and hooper have different qualities - what need is there to bring another striker?
