As much as the timing of it means there's got to be a bit of mindgames at work, there always is this close an old firm game, I'm sure there is a certain level of respect between Smith and Lennon, if for no other reason than they're the only people that understand the pressure they're both under as managers.

And not everyone on each side of the divide deeply HATES the other, nor is it required as some fans would suggest.

Its just all mind games and Walter is good at playing upto the media as the wise old respected gaffer who only ever says the "right" things when really hes just a tadger!!

in honesty there is great respect between the men and has been for quite some time. The OF coaches only can look to one another as men who understand the pressure of the glasgow fish bowl.

In recent years I've come to have a grudging respect for Walter Smith. His actions at Tommy Burns' funeral and the job he has done with Rangers over the last 2-3 seasons have led me to believe he is basically a decent man and a pretty good manager. I still don't 'fear' him as a manager but I do respect the job he's done.

Hopefully we can burst his balloon this season and deny him the triumphant send-off he will be hoping for.

great post mate - 100% agree. I hate the institution that is Rangers, doesn't mean i hate everyone or everything associated with them. Some people need to grow up. Walter Smith is a decent guy who showed our club hero Tommy Burns a great deal of respect.

Frankly, old fox should just shut the * up. I hate it when papers are full of this pish week before Old Firm. Shut up and do the talking on the pitch.

Hooper, Naismith, Smith... Everybody's full of opinions before the big game.

Can't say it any better than these guys, although the media is up his *, he's still a very very good manager. It annoys me that when he loses it or makes stupid comments he is untouched by the media whereas our own managers (Gordon Strachan and Martin O'Neill in particular) are castigated for any perceived wrongdoing. But that's the media's fault, not his.

I hate the ethos and I believe Wattie conforms to that ethos.

Your other examples are completely irrelevant to the thread, and I have explained my reasoning behind that anyway. Feel free to fire me a PM instead of taking this off topic :50:

You would do well to look it up anyway, I really don't think you grasp it :50:
