[Help] File Transfer Protocol

my brother just got a laptop & knows * all about computers never mind torrents

so i was wondering how could i set up a ftp so he could take the films i download right of my pc on to his laptop from his house

if any of you guys know how to set this up could you give me step by step instruction as i tried with some instructions i found on the net but when trying to conect to the server on my pc from laptop it wouldnt connect

i used filezilla server on my pc & filezilla on the laptop but not sure if this is correct

 

i thought a banning was in order when i seen the title. might want to rename it mate

Yes filezilla is the best for an FTP programme, you would however need a place to host the files and could turn tricky plus the time involved in putting them up and him taking them down! Much easier to teach him how to set up bitlord for example and show him what to do would it not

 

I wish but to be truthfull it wouldnt be easier as he is * hopeless LOL

im going to use my old pc as the server so i dont need to put them up.he would take them straight from the pc

 

If he is that bad send him them on disk...he will probably have just as many issues with a FTP than he will with a Torrent client.

 

Total Commander is beast of a programme, I highly recommend it. It's easy to manipulate files on your computer, even considering your bro isn't very good with CPUs.

The best part is - with few add-ons, it allows you to burn CDs, pack and unpack files, do back-up, connect to internet, cook dinner, watch the weans etc.

 

if its just movies in 1 format ie avi mpeg2 etc google hfs file server m8... easy to use and completely safe.. i use it to transer my movies, songs and pics to my ps3 via the wireless router

 

Can you dl files from another internet connection on this?
