Early on I thought he was great but he has made a few mistakes this season and been part of a back line that looks really shaky under any kind of pressure.

The first Old Firm game and the game in Vienna are two off the top of my head.

Still think he is a decent defender who will get a few goals from set-pieces, but not the best I've seen in a Celtic shirt by any stretch.

    You a Cardiff fan?

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Every time he touches the ball you can feel a expectation that he is going to * up.

Nto reliable enough for my liking.

He's usually quite solid and reliable but as Kieran says, the first OF match and Vienna are performances that he needs to cut out.

Gleen Loovens was brilliant in the League Cup Final as was Darren O'Dea at left back. :50:

I think Looven's form was affected by the Chuckle Brothers TBH, and I reckon Glenn and Jos will strike up a very good and solid partnership this year. I also thought Loovens was very solid in the last Old Firm game at Parkhead, where he had Boydchenko in his back pocket.

Aye, he played fairly well on the 3rd. But you can't blame McManus or Caldwell for his mistakes at Ibrox or in Vienna.

He was a brick wall at Cardiff but i think the fast paced game up here with all 10 outfield players of any team we play closing us down for 90 minutes he's prone to the odd slack pass and sometimes makes the wrong decision defensively but if someone can show me a centre back who doesn't make mistakes i'll give them £100.

It's part and parcel with the job of being a centre back that you can't be aware of everything around you all of the time, the odd pass is going to get past you and that alone will sometimes cause goal scoring oppurtunites which are levied solely on the defender, it could have been the most amazing pass the world has ever seen to split the defence wide open but the blame falls on the defenders heads.

Other than his lack of pace and occasional errors though he's been better than what we have at the moment. Outside of Gary Caldwell that is, who is also known for his howlers from time to time.

May well come into his own with a better partnership..but needs to improve big time as he blows hot and cold.

I like big Loovey, I said before the season started that he may have been captain, that was when big Mick was injuried, that may now be the case with Caldwell leaving & well Mick is 3rd choice..

When he is on his game, he is by far Celtic's best defender, at the start of the season, some people were comparing him to Johan Mjallby. I agree that is maybe building him up to much, but on occations he can show glimpses of that quality that Mjallby had. I think with Hooiveld joining tho, that him & Loovens can have a good partnership togetheir & well 2 no messing defenders, ticks the boxes for me :50:. Cos if I was Mogga I would wait until the summer before dipping into the transfer window for another Centre Half, & well today in the paper £4.5Mill, Preston want for St Ledger? Can take a run & jump! The guys good, but hes not that good, theres players out there better & cheaper if you can find them.

But ye for me Loovens - Hooiveld back line :50:

he is a bit on the slow side and doesn't show a great appetite for rolling the sleeves up and getting stuck in

IMO he's hot and cold. On his day he is a fantastic defender but he's just not consistant enough for me. He has a bright future here if he can rule out all of the little mistakes from his game
