All guitar talk in here, wether you play guitar or just love the instrument. I play guitar, mostly just rebel songs and Celtic ones but enjoy playing it a lot ! Greatest guitarist of all time...

I play guitar and have done for years now. I love it but I hate how people automatically assume that Hendrix is the best guitarist of all time. He was great, but he's not completely above everyone else in every way. Anyway, I'm drunk so I shall leave it at that just now.

 

In my opinion he is the best guitarist and I didn't just assume it, I've heard lots of great guitarists and the ones who can play it fastest(heavy metal guitarists) are certainly not the best. Eric Clapton was great and so was Slash but Hendrix tops them imo.

 

stevie ray vaughn is my favourite guitarist. he is dead now but he was brilliant.

 

I can only play acoustic now which am absolutely gutted about, cos i went out and paid £500 on a limited edition Ibanez RG series. Digital Camo finish. Well gutted!

Sorry I didn't mean to make it sound like you had just assumed he was the best. Of course, it's a matter of opinion but I don't think he's the best. He's probably the most naturally talented. Agree with you that Slash and Clapton are topped by Hendrix.

 

Must admit those guy's are al great Guitarists but my fav guitarist is Steve Craddock from Ocean Colour Scene he also plays live gigs for the Mod Father Paul Weller.

 

There are many great guitarists, it all depends on personal taste.

I have many guitarists that I admire for many different reasons. Being fast and flashy is not my taste...much prefer guitarists who are unique in style and sound

Just got my electro acoustic the other day. :icon_mrgreen: Aboslutely love it, clean sound is amazing. And i have to agree with Paul, Ac/Dc are my fave band and I think Angus Young is the best there is his solos (especially live) are amazing and he is also the best live guitarist there is although Minty i know that Malcolm writes all the riffs which is why I think he is the most underrated guitarist there is. Also a big fan of Hetfield/Hammett in Metallica and Cobain.

Well ave got a Fender Acoustic had it about 8/9 years and must admit its like a fine wine....It gets better with age.

 

I like your taste. I play a Les Paul, a BC.Rich Warlock and a Lindo electro acoustic that I bought from Rosario FC.

I like Cobain as a songwriter but he wasn't technically great. He was once quoted as saying ''I can barely play the * thing.''

 

Very nice mate!Play a Les Paul too. By far the most comfortable guitar to play i think. and how does the Lindo play?
I know but the reason I like him so much was because of his songwriting and the simple nature of his songs because when I was starting out I loved the fact that so many of my favourite bands songs were easy to play and he always kind of stuck on me for that reason.

I'm learning this one right now, it's kinda quirky & the singing suits my tone. Easyish to strum along to.

This is the lesson I've used for this song - the tabs are easy to find on UltimateGuitar etc..but this guys a pretty good teacher.

These guys do really good lessons, their website is free & has a lot of accoustic based songs with good tuition.
