German defender Arne Freidrich, who is reportedly available at a knockdown fee of £2m following his club Hertha Berlin's relegation from the Bundesliga.

If that's true I'd bite their hand off to sign him. Apparently he is in demand with Premiership clubs too.

    Forget about Campbell, sign Friedrich

It is being reported in the media that German international defender, Arne Friedrich is available for transfer at the knock down price of £2 million.

Everton want Germany's Arne Friedrich and Magaye Gueye bid is accepted | Mail Online

A solid centreback with experience at the highest level. He has a history of scoring goals in the Bundesliga (14 goals in 231 games) and will find it easier to score in Scotland. He can even play at right back. Plus he is only 31, which gives him 4 more years than Campbell.

He is in demand with Everton, Sunderland and Wolfsburg chasing his signature. If Celtic express interest too it may help Campbell speed up his decision. Hinkel can put in a word as they will know each other from the national team. Then if we sign him while Sol is still dithering we can tell Campbell where to go.

To be honest with you, I'd go for someone else now, Campbell has had plenty of time to think about Celtic, so the fact that he needs another month, after we've given him a longer offer than Arsenal & agreed to give him time off for his honeymoon, suggests to me that he is using Celtic's interest to get a better deal elsewhere.
Friedrich or Ramis would probably be just as good & younger than Campbell

Why should we forget about Sol Campbell ?
Sol Campbell is better than Friedrich. Campbell is a big fish in a small pond. We should give the guy time to have his honeymoon at least,
before expecting a rushed reply for him. He is worth waiting for.

Freidrich is absolute quality but I really can't see him going anywhere apart from the big 4 leagues, probably stay in Germany. £2m is a * of a bargain..

Serbian press are claiming that Vojvodina attacking midfielder Slaven Stjepanović is coming to Celtic these days on a trial. Anyone know something more?

    Attacking midfielder.

    Small amount, I believe.

I don't think he's good enough for the hoops, actually that info found me a bit surprised tbh.
