Celtic manager Gordon Strachan will leave the decision over his final line up to face AC Milan until the last minute with many of his players carrying knocks.

Craig Beattie and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink both came off early at Aberdeen yesterday with tight hamstrings.

It's the latest in a long line of injury woes for both players, with both having missed large parts of the season with similar problems. The injury to Vennegoor of Hesselink is of particular concern, as his strong link up play and physical presence is going to be important against the Italians. He has been badly missed this season with no obvious direct replacement in the squad for his style of play.

Kenny Miller had to receive treatment for a cut in the head after colliding with a linesman at Pittodrie, and Magic Zurawski has also missed the last few games through injury.

At the pre match press conference Strachan admitted that only Miller has trained as normal, but that he was hopeful that...

Celtic are rumoured to be interested in signing Ukrainian international striker Andriy Voronin on a free transfer.

The striker is currently playing in Germany for Bayer Leverkusen, but has signalled his intention to see out the 4 months remaining on his contract before leaving for a fresh challenge.

Gordon Strachan has been frustrated this season with the form of his strikers, who have struggled for goals.

Miller, Beattie and Zurawski have all struggled for form and fitness, with only Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink in double figures for the campaign.

Strachan has identified the Ukrainian as the perfect strike partner for Vennegoor of Hesselink.

He impressed in the recent qualifier between Ukraine and Scotland and has indicated that he is open to a move to the SPL.

But Celtic will have to fight off interest from a host of clubs in the Premiership if they are to get their man.
AC Milan have admitted that measures to bring the San Siro into line with new safety and security guidelines will take until October to complete.

There is now no prospect of the stadium being fit for use in time for the Champions League match.

It could mean that Milan v Celtic will be played behind closed doors, but with thousands of fans set to be left bitterly disappointed, it has emerged that the game could be played at a neutral venue.

Only 5 stadiums in Italy are currently fit for use, so the game could go ahead at one of these venues.

UEFA have indicated that a switch may be allowed to go ahead.
Celtic could be facing the possibility of playing their biggest game of the season behind closed doors.

The Italian government has indicated that it may force clubs which have stadiums that do not meet current safety standards to close them to spectators.

All domestic and international football in Italy was postponed indefinitely following the death of a policeman during a riot after the Sicilian derby between Catania and Palermo.

Only 5 stadiums in Italy currently comply with the rules, and the San Siro is not among them.

If the threat is carried through it could mean massive disappointment for the tens of thousands of Celtic fans who were planning to descend on Milan for the Champions League match.
