Been about 10 meters from a stag when I got out my tent for a pish if that counts, tried to get closer but it bolted. Duno why cos a few years later when I was camping I heard one "barking" think it was smelling my male hormones , had a pish sleep that night

Pine Marten....hmm, how you gonna see that unless in a Springwatch type set-up?
Otter, more chance at the coast id say.I seen 2 at the edge of the Esk in Musselburgh a few years back.
Stoat.....how can you plan to see a stoat?
    Ptarmigan, going up Cairngorm then?
Is there a roost sight for the owls?

Snow Bunting and Red Squirrel....ok, i think you might get them!

Anyway, sounds great fun and i hope you get them all!:50:

Not into nature really but this thread reminds me I saw a deer in the car park of an industrial estate in Glasgow a few weeks back. Just walking casually across the tarmac, then it stopped when I looked at it, went and hid in a bush, then disappeared somewhere.

Yes you are spot on mygirlmaria the old Pine Martin is a total swine to find, but i am staying in a very quiet log cabin,so peanut butter and jam sandwichs will be put out in force.

Otters are quite numerous on the Spey and the nearby lochs,i will be out first light to nail these shy gems, yes i am going up onto the Cairngorms, and i found Ptarmigan quite a few times before, they are superb in winter plumage.

Stoats i have found loads in my time, but never seen an Ermine,so i look forward to that.
This a strong list and a big ask,but hey i will walk around a 100 miles up there, and see dusk and dawn at its very best, earning my red wine back at the cabin and a few pints in the cool local pubs.
And my main fuel,Stornoway Black Pudding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to see wolves, but i would be terrified at the prospect of meeting a bear.
I absolutely know for a fact if i came across one in the wild, i would actually * my pants.
I have watched so many wildlife programmes in my time it is scary, but i still do not ever want to be anywhere where i might meet one of those things! They are so unpredictable.
I remember seeing a programme recently where Masai tribesman walked straight up to a pride of lions at a kill and the lions bolted. They cut off a leg from the wildebeest and walked off.The lions then returned to the kill.
I dont think bears do psychology though!!!

I have seen quite a lot of wild life having lived in the middle of no-where for the most of my life until I moved to Glasgow.

Seen a lot of deer, just about every morning I would go out a walk around 5am, still awake due to an awful sleeping pattern, there would always be a lot of deer about the fields around my house and sometimes on the road that I walked down.

My next door neighbour, or old next door neighbour, was a quilified vet, fair to say after finding this information out as a youngster, anytime I saw a bird that was struggling to fly or something that looked like it had been clipped by a car, me and my wee brother would get it and take it round hoping they would be able to help the animal.

Stood face to face with a huge deer once, dunno what that would be, can't remember if it had antlers actually, but it was at-least seven foot. Amazingly never shat myself, and just kind of continued on, happened to be in a wood that was in-between my house and the house of a girl I used to hang out with, I know, hanging out in the woods eh.

Seen a load of foxes, weirdly enough seen more in Glasgow than the country-side. Used to see Owls every night outside my house, along with Buzzards occasionally.

Been loads, wish I still lived there, even though the internet here is so much faster.

Didn't know we had these in Scotland.

Used to know where there was an Eagles Eyrie up in Uist so would go see them when we went up to visit family.
Regularly see owls, buzzards, the odd kestrel and saw a goshawk once just driving to and from work. Pheasant, rabbits, foxes, deer and the odd badger help me check the brakes are working ok most nights coming home.
