Joe Hart is willing to take a pay cut to quit Tottenham for Celtic, Football Insiderunderstands.

The Hoops have turned their attention to signing the two-times Premier League winner as they look to recruit a top-class goalkeeper.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that the club have been given encouragement Hart, 34, is keen to join from Spurs this summer.

He is said to be willing to accept a drop in salary to move to Parkhead and end his one-year association with the Londoners.

Hart was a free agent when he joined Tottenham last summer on a two-year contract

He made 10 appearances last season as the understudy to Hugo Lloris.

Hart has the CV and top-level experience that Ange Postecoglou craves.

In addition to his World Cup, European Championships and Champions League pedigree, the former Man City star has won two Premier League titles, two FA Cups and a League Cup.

“Joe Hart is a top-class keeper with an unbelievable record,” former Premier League striker Noel Whelan told Football Insider.

Celtic know what they are getting with him – experience, a player used to dealing with the pressure of a big club and huge crowds. His record speaks for itself and he showed last season at Tottenham he is still good enough.

Looks like it’s happening then, just need to play full attacking football then and say * it to defending.

If he can organise the defence in front of him and save anything that's not right into his hands then he'll be an instant upgrade on Barkas. We need leadership at the back and I think he'll provide that.

He might end up being back up if we loan out Barkas and sell Bain, can only hope.

The more I think about it, the more I’m ok with it for a year.

He’s a leader and a character in the dressing room. That’ll make a difference right away. Like someone already said he’s a better Craig Gordon.

Brandon Austin has been recalled by Spurs , young GK 22. Looks like this is about to happen.

I don’t think our fans(myself included) think this is a great signing but as I’ve already said. We need better than can come straight up and go into the squad, an upgrade of epic proportions on what we already have.

We don’t have time to * about with players isolating.

Just goes to show that fan standards are at an all time low when we are welcoming Hart with open arms.

Years of downsizing and * us over have made fans submissive. Not me

It’s a gamble but he’s potentially a great signing. He’s one that would have been out of our reach majorly 2/3 years ago. If we can revitalise him and give him that buzz of being back at a big club challenging for silverware, then we’ve won a watch.

Because at his best he is absolutely class.

Anyone who tries to say Joe Hart has ways been * is at it. Overrated? Probably. But still a good keeper in his day.

Take off the circa 2013 Forster-for-England tinted specs

I honestly don't know how he got on at Spurs last season so can't comment on that. If he can reproduce form close to the level he was 3 or 4 years ago, which is entirely possible, we'll be laughing

After his Torino stint I would have certainly taken him, but from what I gather, his career and game time has completely bombed since.

We can do better, so much better.
That said, of course he is a step up on what we have - but that shouldn't be the only reason we chase Hart, he's not good enough either, in my eyes.
I know this deal is likely about to be completed though, so like most, if he does come in - I hope he proves me wrong.

    I don't think he's great at all.

Better than what we have but not the kind of upgrade that's going to make match-winning saves.

In his day he was excellent although always capable of a howler.

    Just 34 isn't he? That's still a good age for a keeper.
