EMILIO IZAGUIRRE - CELTIC CAREER IN PICTURES

    • Celtic are lining up a shock move to take Emilio Izaguirre back to Parkhead.

The Honduran defender is on the market having cut-short his spell at Saudi Arabian club Al-Fayha

Izaguirre enjoyed seven successful seasons in Glasgow before moving to the Middle East a year ago.

However, at the age of 32, the left-back is ready to return to Celtic for a second term.
Izaguirre’s move is designed to offer cover in the left-back position for first-choice Kieran Tierney.

The international, who has 96 caps, was signed by former boss Neil Lennon in 2010 and won 10 major trophies and a Player of the Year Award during his first spell at the club.

Think we made a bit of money off him and might get him back a year later on a free, probably on reduced terms. Works out well in the end.

Hah, I was going to say we could maybe go back for him when I noticed him on the freebie list I posted the other day.

    Would happily take him back.

Looks good on the surface; love izzy, crackin player when hes on it, gives a hundred percent, loves us and will provide good cover

But hardly gonna challenge KT for his place and as far as development/ resale/ competition goes its a non starter

Seems like a lazy/ cheap option to avoid spending this summer, putting off investing in that position until next year and at 32 hes not gonna be operating at a high level for much longer hence the one year deal

I think it’s fine short-term. I doubt we’d have addressed our lack of cover there this summer if he were unavailable, to be honest, so it’s a bonus.

His wages will be greatly reduced, and we got a fee for him when he left, so the board will be happy.

Realistically we are not going to * money on a LB when we have KT.
KT will always be number one.
We only need someone to cover for injuries or resting.
Izzy will fit back in just fine!

We aren't really looking for a LB to "challenge" KT though, nor would we be looking for significant resale - We already made profit, transfer fee wise, on Izzy.

Deal is simply about having someone in the event KT picks up an injury or needs a rest, having someone actually good enough to challenge KT would likely cost a fair whack and would essentially be a waste of money. There are more pressing issues which need money spent on.

Good reliable signing. Saves Mcgregor covering left back leaving us shorter in midfield. Calvin Miller is not the answer

I’m all for this. Didn’t want him to leave in the first place.

As long we are going to put money towards a good centre half!

No complaints, love Izzy and despite his clear regression the last couple of years, he still looked a decent player when he was called upon. Bring him hame.

Far better option than Hayes or Miller as back up to KT

I like Izzy and will be good for cover. I have doubts tho. I just don't think he's the player he once was.
