I don’t think he needs an armband to do that.

I didn’t say he can’t handle it, I just think to become the best player you can it’s for the best not to distract young players away from duties on the pitch and training field.

I genuinely don’t know on the last question mate, Callum’s the kind that just inspires confidence in you, a calm collected surety. Ajer looks the type who’d talk ye into headering a wall but :56:

I think he’s a natural leader, I just don’t like taking young players still developing and giving them all the off field * that captains at Celtic need to do.

I don’t think he need a strip of cloth around his arm to be a leader on the pitch for us.

I get where you are coming from, I just feel his is the one that has pretty much all the attributes I would be looking for in an on field captain. Callum may well be better at the off field stuff. I'd be happy making Callum the club captain and leave that to him, and Ajer the team captain on the pitch.

I don’t think it works like that, you’re either all captain or not. On the pitch, do you think he needs the armband to be a leader on the pitch for us?

I know why people would want him as captain though, I can see that, just let the bhoy grow.

By that logic, why does anyone need the armband?

It's obviously not the same thing, but think of it in terms of a normal workplace. A colleague at the same level as you tells you to do something, how do most people react? Do it, ignore it, tell them to * off? A supervisor/team leader/manager or whatever does the same and it's much more likely to get done. I think the captaincy lends that extra bit of authority, I just don't think the likes of Callum or Forrest would get the most out of it but Ajer would.

I do agree it is unlikely to happen, and Callum will get it, despite thinking Ajer is far more suited to it.

Designated person for all the off field stuff is the biggest part of it.

Depends on how much I respect the colleague and his ability to make me want to do it, probably even more so than the ones who have genuine authority come to think of it :56:

Armbands traditional but I always go back to O’Neill’s team, that team had about ten * ‘captains’ in it. They didn’t need the armband to stand up and inspire each other on the pitch, that’s what Ajer can do.

They would probably have been better suited to being in charge then, but have been overlooked for someone that "should" get the position. :grntongue

If the position is purely symbolic then by all means Callum or Forrest would do just fine, personally I believe being the Celtic captain requires more than that.

It’s not purely symbolic, it has real responsibilities. I don’t think Forrest is suited to it at all, McGregor is in a different way than Ajer.

More a Lambert or Jackie McNamara type captain than a Brown or a Lenny.

Callum is our most creative player as far as I'm concerned but Captain material would've said 'LB? That'll be *' right.' :56:

Broony never said that to Mowbray, it can become a tradition :56:

I get that, I just prefer the captain to be more vocal than I've seen McGregor be. I also like defenders being the captain as they get to see more of the game happening in front of them, so have a better overall view of what is going on.

What do we do with this guy, defenders are worth their weight in gold but he's also a forward ffs I'm starting to think he'd be a much bigger loss than KT, he is incredible.

Think it was just cramp mate, game midweek, start of the season, constant running in the heat.

    Think Bayo was the same.
