Celts Make Profit For Second Year Running.

The success of Celtic Football Club on the pitch is having an even better affect off it. For the second year running Celtic have been able to announce a pre tax profit, this year of £4.4 million.

Through the combination of Peter Lawwell, John Reid, directors, winning the SPL and getting to the last 16 of the Champions League, Celtic are starting to erase any debt they had. Their debt is now down to a small £3.52 million, small especially compared to their bitter rivals at the other end of the city.

The profit could have been even more if it were not for early exits in both domestic cups but Celtic fans will not be complaining as they know finances play a huge roll in the clubs future. If Celtic can continue to build on this then it leaves them in good stead to expand the club, this could be by buying new players or even increasing the size of the stadium....

Loovens delighted to become a Bhoy!!

Dutch under 21 international Glenn Loovens has explained why he chose Celtic as his destination over the forces of darkness. Once again Celtic have beaten their bitter rivals in the transfer market. It is yet another blow to the Evil empire and one wonders how much more humiliation they can take,

Loovens who is much lauded by Cardiff City fans expects to put the finishing touches on his move to Paradise. He said of his move.

"I had the choice of Rangers and Celtic and...
Hoops Poised To * Rangers Target.

It has emerged today that Celtic have launched an astonishing bid to land Glen Loovens, the Cardiff City centre half.

However whats more interesting, is the fact that Loovens has been the number 1 target of Walter Smith, the manager of rivals Rangers. If Peter Lawwell can manage to entice the defender to Parkhead, it will come as a bitter blow to Rangers fans who have just lost Player Of The Year Carlos Cuellar.

The 24 year old Dutchman played against Celtic in a pre-season friendly and put it an impressive display. That seems to have made Peter Lawwell and Gordon Strachan desperate to sign the player who wants a move away from Cardiff.

With Rangers not making the move, and Celtic close to agreeing a price of £2.5million with Cardiff, Loovens has to sit and hope that there are no problems finishing off the deal.
The SPL Champions got their campaign off to a winning start at Celtic Park today....just.

Rarely in the history of the game will a team have done less to earn 3 points. The win came courtesy of a dubious penalty award in the 2nd half, which Barry Robson just converted with the Buddies goalkeeper almost managing to keep it out. Celtic hardly threatened the St.Mirren goal all afternoon despite enjoying the majority of possession.

The day had started with an emotional league flag unfurling ceremony. The Celtic chairman John Reid was accompanied onto the podium by Tommy Burns' widow Rosemary who did the honours after a short video on the big screens showing Tommy signing 'Mack the Knife' along with highlights of his illustrious Celtic career.

All the emotion of the ceremony seemed to take the edge off the home team in the opening stages of the match with the visitors starting brightly. Boruc had to save smartly at his near post after only 5 minutes. It wasn't...
McDonald And Vennegoor Head Celtic Attack.

The Scottish Premier League really kicks off tomorrow
when champions Celtic host St Mirren. However fans hoping to catch a glimpse of Greek star Georgios Samaras may have to wait a while longer as manager Gordon Strachan is sticking with Scott McDonald and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink up front.

"We have two strikers who scored 50 goals so you try to find a system that compliments your best parts.", said Strachan.

Scott McDonald stole the show last year scoring 31 goals in his debut season. Yet it is Vennegoor who is showing promise for the new season. The dutchman who came to life at the end of last season has had a great pre season, scoring against Middlesborough, Porto and Feyenoord.

This partnership will be the first to last 2 seasons since the famous triangle of Hartson, Sutton and Larsson....
