Statement from Dermot Desmond to Celtic Supporters

Complete and utter bullshit.

 

Reflecting on that statement with a more formal hat on, besides a lot being objectively nonsense, it really is terrible from a corporate governance perspective

The fact a big shareholder holds the pen rather than chief exec or chairman is a red flag.

The fact it directly challenges the official club statement 15 minutes earlier (which one can assume should reflect the sentiment of the chief exec) is a big issue.

The fact there is a personal, potentially libelous, aspect could lead to legal challenge against the club.

The fact a potentially liberlous accustion was made when the market was closed and precedes a formal notification to shareholders is awful governance.

Leaving all football related debate aside, it highlights the utter failure of our board as a controlling entity.

If fans want to continue the "sack the board" stuff, this should be the route to do it rather than football related disagreements

 

I think he’s blaming Rodgers for making it the situation it has become …. Nicholson a different matter no picking up fones to other chairmen and no doing the job of what expected of him seems to be a mighty slide in difference with Nicholson

But if that’s happening with Nicholson, isn’t Rodgers criticisms valid and therefore Desmond’s criticism invalid?

 

Think Rodgers will scold him in the press.

Then Desmond will pile in cash for a new manager and players and give the proverbial middle finger and said I told you I back the team.

Happened when Dave king goaded him at Hampden. He wants to come out looking good and in some way team might actually benefit from that.

 

Absolute scumbag that takes zero responsibility. As with most things these idiots do, it is going to backfire and have the opposite impact, and I'm delighted he put his name to the statement - making him the real focus. The rest are just his puppets.

 

Not really they both can be complicit how do we not know players have been put forward and Rodger rejected them

Rodgers refusal to use players bought by the model and Nicholson not being forward planning enough has got it to this stage I could rhyme off a full 11 of players that where bought and I find myself scratching g my head on why they were getting refused game time

The statement is a total embarrassment regardless of accurate or not the details in it are. It reflects so badly on us as a club. I've been critical of Rodgers but that statement is a complete farce.
