Celtic have been faced with a triple injury blow during the international break, with Daizen Maeda, Liel Abada and Anthony Ralston all returning to Lennoxtown early.

Maeda was a unused substitute during Japan's friendly against Uruguay on Friday night and it appears the Hoops forward has picked up an injury. A statement from the Japanese FA read: "We would like to inform you that Daizen Maeda (Celtic) will leave the Samurai Blue due to an injury as they prepare for Colombia on Tuesday, March 28. There is no call-up of a player to replace Maeda."

Celtic's woes haven't stopped there as Abada suffered injury trouble in training while away with Israel. National team boss Alon Hazan demanded he starts his rehab right away and provided a rough recovery timeline for the 21-year-old. It appears Abada could be out for two to three weeks, which puts his chances of featuring in the upcoming Old Firm clash with Rangers on April 8.

While Ralston was a late call-up to Steve Clarke's Scotland squad for their Euro 2024double header against Cyprus and Spain after Jack Hendry dropped out. However the right-back wasn't named on the team sheet versus Cyprus and has subsequently left the camp.

Greg Taylor, Reo Hatate and James Forrest have all been on the treatment table in recent weeks and boss Ange Postecoglou will hope no more of his stars are crocked before Celtic's next Scottish Premiership match next Sunday, when they visit Ross County.

We’ll hopefully benefit for the breaks between games in April with no midweek games

Meanwhile, with their Premiership derby looming with Rangers a week on Saturday, Postecoglou may be misisng Liel Abada and Anthony Ralston. Both pulled up in the international break injured ahead of this weekend's trip to Ross County.

He added: "Ralston and Abada picked up some injuries in camp so will probably miss a couple of weeks. We will see how they develop.

"James Forrest is still out for a little bit of time. The other two are Aaron Mooy and Tomoki Iwata, who have stayed with us and they are touch and go for the weekend, we don't see them being too far away

Ange said in his press conference that Abada Ralston and Forrest out for a few weeks. Reo and Mooy will be assessed tomorrow but should be fine for next week. No other injuries.

How is the fitness of the guys returning as well as the fitness of those who stayed back?

If I go through them the ones that are definitely out are James Forrest who is still a bit off. Liel Abada and Tony Ralston picked up injuries with their national teams and it's fair to say they will be a couple of weeks. Reo Hatate and Aaron Mooy are back in training and we will assess them on Saturday before making a decision. I'd suggest if it is not this weekend then they will be right for next weekend and we will see how they go. Everyone else is okay.

Not too terrible then. Jota and Haksa to do the business for us out wide.

Hatate and Mooy back next weekend at the latest is music to my ears.

If they're fit enough for Sunday, I'd rather they started on the bench just to give them some more time to recover. Give them 20mins to keep them ticking over.

    Batter the huns. Job done.

Postecoglou will be without Liel Abada, James Forrest and Anthony Ralston, while there are also fitness concerns over Reo Hatate and Aaron Mooy.

The boss said: “James Forrest will be out for a little while, Liel and Anthony Ralston will probably be out for a couple of weeks.

“Reo and Aaron are progressing. We will see how training goes on Saturday, but they should be okay for next weekend. They are not long term. Daizen Maeda is fine. He has trained and Japan were being cautious with him. Greg [Taylor] and Cameron [Carter-Vickers] are fine.”

No sign of Hatate or Taylor friendly training footage. Hatates running out of time to make it for Saturday and I'm worrying Taylors injury is worse than we thought.

    Mooy was back though
