Callum McGregor has played with some excellent strikers across his decorated Celtic career.

The Hoops captain has been a feature in side since making his debut in 2014 as different forwards have arrived and left the Parkhead side. Kyogo currently leads the line for Celtic and the Japanese star is enjoying a brilliant season in front of goal.

The 28-year-old has netted 26 goals in 38 appearances this season and he's in contention for the end of season awards. Kyogo's movement is exceptional and it's lead to comparisons with Celtic legend Henrik Larsson. Odsonne Edouard and Moussa Dembele both shone at Parkhead before earning moves to Crystal Palace and Lyon.

McGregor played alongside the French duo at Celtic and he's compared them to Kyogo.

“Different styles, different players,” McGregor said.

Obviously Moussa was more of a target man player who would get goals, Odsonne had a bit of both and Kyogo is just pure pace and clever runs and the way we play football is really simple and he is always disciplined to be in the box at the right time and finish off the moves.

You can see why he gets so many goals. Those are special numbers, our job as players is to give him the platform to try and do that

He does a lot of unselfish running for the team as well. so he helps us and we have to help him as well and try to repay that with assists for the goals he wants.”

The Ange Postecoglou revolution – “he has them playing some great football,” said Brown – has ushered in a very different Celtic team from the, at times, in-your-face sides within which he and Lustig proved central characters. The former Scottish international was a waspish, wind-up merchant by trade, treating the pitch as a battlefield in which opponents were sworn enemies to be belittled, bested and beaten. It amuses him, then, that the man who has inherited his No 8 shirt, a certain Kyogo Furuhashi, could hardly be more antithetical in his approach. The Japanese scoring phenomenon remains mannerly and gracious whatever the white-hot nature of the fray, even as he mauls rivals with his perpetual movement and penalty-box prowess.

You can see wee Kyogo has a smile on his face everywhere he goes,” said Brown. “He helps people up after he tackles them. He’s picking up litter after games and stuff like that. He’s just a lovely, lovely lad. To be perfectly honest, there is no better person that could steal my number from me. It goes from one way to another. I wouldn’t have helped anyone up … but he’s willing to help anybody up, which shows you there is no right way and no wrong way to play football and win games.”

It's not really because the manager is saying the league is weak which is a worry. But it doesn't make sense because he's still calling up Maeda

There were strange comments from him around the time the WC squad was formed. He wanted players with "burning ambition" to succeed at the WC. And players who are "on the same wavelength".
Ironically, his roster has done well at the WC, so criticism has died down. But having Hatate and Furuhashi would help Japan do better when they are favorite to win.

Brilliant news for us, the Japan manager talks utter * since he was clearly happy to start Meada in the World Cup who plays in the same team and league.

No good enough, aye ok then ya baw bag.

What a raving lunatic. Contradicts himself every time he explains why he leaves Reo and Kyogo out. Gutted for both, and there’s more to this from the raving lunatic, can’t even be honest. He can go * himself.

The league is weak. Everytime kyogo got called up last season he got injured, the less game load both of them get plus travel is a positive for us.

Moriyasu, like most managers, has his favorite players. In the strikers department, that is/ used to be Takuma Asano. Not exactly prolific, but plays in the Bundesliga and actually scored against Germany. Now, Keito Nakamura from LASK Linz was called up. In great form, but is Austrian Bundesliga that much better than SPFL?

Grand old team to play for
I think short term, it's great for us that they've been left out - would hate to see either of them pick up an injury for the run in. I think long term it's bad for us, Japanese players might not fancy coming to/staying with us if they think it will make it harder for them to get in their NT. Playing for the Japan team would boost their values too.

I don't think Kyogo will move on. He's late 20s now. Probably just wants to keep having a crack at Champions League and be a cult figure with us.

I think we all know that the reality is, Hatate will be away eventually. However, it should be for a very large fee and should be up there with one of our biggest sales ever. Needs to be £20m plus for me.

There is no excuse for Kyogo not getting called up.

There is an incredibly weak case perhaps for Hatate not getting called up. But there absolutely no case at all for Kyogo.

Also, just to throw it out there...are we just going to ignore J-League player of the year in Iwata?
