The entire board of Italian club Juventus, including president Andrea Agnelli, have resigned.

The Serie A club finished fourth in the league last season and made a €254.3m (£220m) loss - a record in Italy.

Last November, Juventus said they were co-operating with police after an investigation was launched into the club's transfers.

The investigation concerned "revenues from player registration rights" between 2019 and 2021.

Agnelli and vice-president Pavel Nedved, who is also stepping down, were among those under investigation.

The board have stepped down en masse "having considered the centrality and relevance of pending legal and accounting issues", said a statement.

The outgoing board "considered to be in the best social interest to recommend that Juventus equip itself with a new board of directors to address these issues," the statement added.

Managing director Maurizio Arrivabene will remain in his role for an interim period while a new board is brought together.

Agnelli was one of the chief architects of the breakaway plans to form the European Super League in 2021.

Juve, who are listed on the Italian stock exchange, are being investigated for allegations of presenting false accounting information to investors and producing invoices for non-existent transactions.

The club has denied any wrongdoing.

Other clubs are also the subject of a parallel investigation which was launched by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in October.

Shareholders are set to meet again on 18 January to appoint the new board, the club said.

Juve deserves everything that comes their way.

Chief architects of the ESL no less, with no interest in the well-being of football as a whole.
No matter how much money they can attract, they still manage to burn even more.

If Juve or any of the other culprits in the ESL fiasco folded, I would gladly raise a glass.
Killers of the goose that lays the golden egg.

The rangers of Italy. Bought their way to success, got punished for it along with many others, came back up and by the looks of it, incomprehensibly, have only gone and done it again..

Always hated them. Still think the ref/UEFA were bribed when Amoroso* got that penalty.

EDIT - also a club that seemed to be able to get players to a physical level previously thought improbable - Del Piero as the prime example.

    https://www.juventus.com/it/news/articoli/nota-della-societa-x8491

Turin, 22 December 2022 – Juventus Football Club SpA (“Juventus” or the “Company”) announces that this evening, together with 8 other Italian football clubs and their top managers at the material time, they received from the Federal Prosecutor at the FIGC an "appeal for partial revocation, pursuant to art. 63, of the CGS, of the decision of the Federal Court of Appeal, United Sections, n. 0089/CFA-2021-2022 of 27 May 2022, which has become definitive".

With the contested decision, the Federal Court of Appeal had rejected the complaint lodged by the Federal Prosecutor's Office against the decision of the Federal National Court which, in turn, had acquitted Juventus and the other persons deferred for the absence of any disciplinary offense in relation to the assessment of the effects of certain transfers of players' registration rights on the balance sheets and the recognition of capital gains.

The Company will be able to articulate its defenses within the terms established by the code, confident of being able to further demonstrate the correctness of its actions, the absence of new elements that have arisen that are relevant for the judgment with respect to the decision of the Federal Court of Appeal and the lack of the conditions of the proposed appeal.

Juventus have been deducted 15 points for the current season by an Italian soccer court investigating its transfer dealings, the national soccer federation (FIGC) said on Frida

With 20 games left to play in this season, Juve were third in Serie A, 10 points adrift of leaders Napoli. The points deduction would push them down into mid-table, outside the spots for European competition.

The ruling is tougher than a nine-point deduction a soccer prosecutor had requested earlier on Friday during a hearing looking at the way Juventus, Italy's most successful club, and a number of other teams dealt with player exchange deals.

The soccer court also ruled that former Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli be banned from holding office in Italian soccer for 24 months.

It also decided on a 30-month ban for Juve's former sports director, Fabio Paratici, now managing director of football at England's Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.

Juventus have denied wrongdoing and said their accounting was in line with industry standards.

Corrupt to the core. After all that has happened they still have to resort to cheating.

    It sounds all too familiar.

Do not get juve at all, like why? Surely they’ve got enough standing and set up within the club not to cheat…doesn’t make any sense why they continue to do it. Beauty this season for Napoli though now, didn’t realise how long it’s been since they’ve won that league

They are saying this has opened a can of worms and that conte could get banned from football ….. how long has this went on for …. And do we have grounds for a payout if it’s went on way back to when we played them in last 16 ? Having players that shouldn’t have been on the books
