I mean, you should be able to prepare the players while also touring places that can get us some decent money. No real difference going over to Japan for a week to 10 days and playing some opposition over there.

You can but it’s not the best way to prepare, it’s not helpful.

We should be giving ourselves the best preparation in everything we do.

When you have 3-4 weeks preparation nowadays in the summer with no qualifiers, we should be utilising that opportunity to tour the world, get the brand up and get some decent cash in the coffers. £5m we made for the Sydney Tournament. That’s a quality player in the door.

I’d rather we get the team properly prepared for the season, rather than let the businessmen dictate how we do it. Focus on the football, pre-season is * crucial on setting the tone of the season.

I can see both sides of the argument, however I can’t see Ange Jeopardising our prep. In the summer you never know the J league season starts in the spring we may go right after the season ends delaying the start of the players break for a week or so?

Alternatively given we have a number of Japanese players and young guys they might be keen to participate in activity like that.

The sort of money we made from Sydney and the rumoured figures for Japan of up to £10m I can’t see us turning that down if it’s available.

Mental welbeing and rest is just as important to athletes as fitness and training. Just about finding the right balance.

We play Rennes sometime early in December, I don’t know if there’s any others.

Japan would AMAZZZING!!!!! Been there 4 times now & its * knockout, going to see Celtic there would be cracking. Plus the Japanese loves the Hoops due to Naka. Got stopped multiple times while in the hoops with people wanting to speak to me about Naka. Would be a huge buzz around that trip if it came through. Would also be big crowds for it as they come out in numbers to support. Bring it on Celtic!!

It's a country id love to go and see, love the culture and history of it. I just don't think I could handle the hustle and bustle of the main cities.

Never been there but my understanding is that even the hustle and bustle in Japan is quite orderly - except the trains.

We were booked to go to the Olympics (had a couple of friends in the kayaking) and was very disappointed when it was cancelled. Dying to check it out.

It's like the football mafia. Be there pals, or you end up with the pish leftover elsewhere.

Summer in Japan (well mainly Tokyo, Nagano was a TAD fresher, and apart from Hokkaido which is basically Russia lol) is one humongous, sticky, sweltery * lol. 36 degrees during the day, 30 degrees at night, 100% humidity for 13 weeks day after day after day non stop. I almost died lol. Sleeping at night was tough without air con or a fan. Apart from that, Japan is awesome, it's cheaper than London and I'd love to go back!

Most people on here don't know this but I was the prime minister of Japan from 1971 to 74.
