Not just now, if he kicks on and proves his worth down there it is though.

Don’t think it’s a coincidence that big teams started looking at Scotland youth teams after Tierney and Robertson smashed it down there, then Gilmour got into the Chelsea team and done well (fair enough fell away now from Chelsea’s first team) and then the vultures came up here. We lost out to Bayern and now Liverpool.

The second stage of that is us bringing these guys through and letting them know it’s better to learn here than jump early.

That’s the stage Ajax are at now, rather than being poached young they stay because they know that’s best for them and then leave for a big fee, and big money.

We’re at the annoying stage just now, very annoying, up to us to kick on to the next part, like Ajax do. That means young talent have a realistic roadmap into getting into the team.

Ben Woodburn will be 23 this year and isn’t a regular starter for hearts.

    A brilliant example.

It’ll be so annoying if next year he’s Jordan Henderson’s more talented replacement.

I mean, he was spot on about Shved :fear:

I don't see this as an advantage as our set up is miles behind most other leagues, Ajax have the Ajax Jong team in the second division in Holland, what do we have? We have no benefit until Scottish football wakes up. As it stands there is no road map for our younger players. We don't have comparible set ups like the dutch and as a club we can't enforce that on the rest of the SPFL. Some seem to think that the coaches/management at Celtic are not providing a pathway, they are, it's just that the pathway is not as good as other leagues

That is where we are just now mate, and it’ll be like that for a while until we can properly implement a proper roadmap from being a youth to a first team player. It’s a long process, right now we don’t have that but have done just enough to be recognised we can develop talent. That’s when we’ll have everybody poaching the best of them, the thing is we can’t stop because of that, need to push through to the next level that lets players know this is a place you want to develop at. And then more talent will come in because of that.

Guys like Doak going down there, being highly rated up here failing and not being good enough makes us look worse ‘off course they look good up there, Ben Doak stormed it going through the ranks up there’ - it’s something that was labelled at us for a long time with Feruz. Rightly or wrongly.

The better the reputation gets, the more people will try and poach them. Hickey doing brilliant in Serie A will get others looking over here as well, the national team doing well will do the same. Up to us to push through that to make it seem like it’s the place to be. We don’t have that at all just now as you rightly point out.

To be fair better to prepare yourself for him buggering off just now to not be as devastated in the summer.

Not a coincidence he’s disappeared from the bench is it. Same happened with Doak.

But for his injury in pre-season, it could have been a big year for Karamoko.

Don't think so. Think they nabbed him off us before a professional contract was even signed. Lost a lot of youth to big teams recently in the same manner, two boys at Bayern. Looks like Leeds are about to take our young goalie too.

I don't think we sign Forrest on a 3 year deal if he stays.

Doak signs for Liverpool officially on 22 April… Forrest signs extension on 12 May. Think that’s clearly what happened. Shame Doak didn’t want to be here.

No surprise he’s doing well, just ashame his head got turned so quickly but then he’ll be on at least £10K at Liverpool and class facilities, coaches etc.

Unfortunately not many players even stick with their boyhood clubs nowadays with how much money they can make elsewhere. We done well to even keep KT as long as we did.

Scored for the U21’s today and getting a lot of praise. Think he’s going to be a serious top player if he keeps developing the way he does.

We need to start changing our structure to keep hold of these young players, lost quite a few cheaply over the last few years.

I don't believe a change in structure will prevent us losing players to Bayern and Liverpool but Scotland as a whole needs to make massive changes to our youth structure, as an individual club within this structure I think there is little we can do. A proper B team in the pro league would be a start rather than lowland league

See when he came on against the huns.....he had that hunskelper attitude and could've been in the first team in a year

I did mean in both for sure, B teams should be able to get promotion to the Championship same as other leagues.

For us I think our facilities definitely hinder us, hopefully the board are still pushing for the Barrowfield plan or something similar. Hopefully keep bringing in quality youth coaches as well, moving McManus in for McIntyre was a good move and overdue.

The thing is, that is clear that it’s not going to happen, every club in the lower divisions are majorly against it and it needs a vote with 90% odd for it for it to happen.

Self sabotage again from Scottish clubs, but that’s expected as well. So we need to form another plan to properly develop our players.

And no matter our plan, clubs like Bayern and Liverpool could still nab the best of them. Ben Doak was going to be part of the first team, had been brought on in Europe and in a Hun derby to prove that. And he didn’t do himself any doubt against that continuing, Ange was putting his faith in him.

And he was a lifelong Celtic fan, and by all accounts a very good support system arounf him, he left. And by the way he’s being talked up down there, I think it may actually be a good decision in the end up if he keeps doing what he is.
