Perfect draw for me - an absolute top team plus two that won't scare Ange at all.

Maybe even a chance of catching RM off their guard. Second spot is possible but would be some kind of achievement.

Ange, of course, will be gunning for first.

I like the look of that group. A new elite team for a change and a potential 7/8 points to at least drop into the EL.

    That should not be unrealistic.

It's a good draw, two teams we can beat and then even Real Madrid I think we can beat as well, they don't control and dominate games and are not the sort of team we won't get a sniff of the ball against, they'll give us chances and probably won't like the pace we play at.

Mate it's Real Madrid. They're European champions for a reason :giggle1:

They will almost certainly control the games against us. We just have to hope we can do something.

Enjoying the optimism and I’m personally delighted with the draw, but it better not be one of those ones were * rock up to Celtic Park expecting us to beat Shakhtar and Leipzig.

We’re always better in Europe when we have an underdog mentality, backing the team unconditionally.

There’s always a section of our support who don’t know a single thing about football outside of Britain, and expect us just to turn teams over, and get on the players’ backs when we’re struggling. Very counterproductive.

We’re in pot 4 for a reason. We are huge favourites to finish 4th and anything else is a bonus. That should be the attitude of the support.

The players and staff will have a different idea, but we need to make it 90 minutes of * for the opponents, and an overly unrealistic expectant attitude does not necessarily correlate with that.

Looking forward to seeing the likes of Benzema and Modric at Celtic park, will be a tough game no doubt, but anything can happen at Celtic Park on CL Nights :34:

the dream would be to get 7 points at home and picking up a win away from home, or even a draw or two away, but I get that's a bit optimistic :67: but you never know, it's a good draw and all to play for..

Shakhtar 9/1 to qualify, whereas we’re about 3/1..

Lost Solomon and a lot of other starters. Mudryk their star man linked with a move to Arsenal the past few days. Seen they were looking at bringing Shved in as well..

They’ll still be a difficult game but we need to be taking at least 4 points off them really to give ourselves a chance at 2nd.

By the same token, it's almost as if people forget how well we played in the group stages cause Bodo happened.

With a makeshift squad that we were forced to chop and change through injury we went away to Betis and Leverkusen and another day could've won both games and beat ferencvaros home and away fairly comfortably.

We're far more settled now both in personnel and tactics.

yeah we have a more settled squad but its practically the same as the one that wasnt good enough to get out of the group and if memory serves me correctly conceded most goals in the group stages for the second year in a row .we are wide open at the back and on top which it looks as if greg taylor will be in the side again .bodo was a very humbling experience it showed we werent good enough at either end of the pitch

It will be interesting to see if there is a final push in recruitment and we see a bit more cash spent to try and hope for 2nd but planning for 3rd

Bodo beat Roma 6-1 and 2-1 and drew in Rome. They also knocked out AZ, who we know are decent side. Bodo were not a bad team.

We definitely were outplayed in the first leg and Ange rightfully chucked it the second leg.

We get punished at the back for mistakes, like you do in Europe. We're decent going forward though.

I disagree it's the same team though. It may be on paper but are Jota, Taylor, Abada, GG etc the same players they were in our European campaign than they are today?

I don't like the huns but they are the Europa League finalists. We had their pants down about 75% of the time we played them last season. If we can do it against them, we shouldn't be worried about teams of Europa League standard. Champions League is a different kettle of fish but we should be aiming to be here regularly and be competitive in the group stages at least.
