It's fine to prefer Jeahze, but it's madness to knock back obviously talented young players (that are first team ready) just because they're not born within 10 miles of Celtic Park.

I take it you want Abada punted since he's a young player with some flaws he's working on and isn't a Celtic youth?

Bernabei will clearly contribute massively in an attacking sense and with some coaching he can work on his defensive game. This is hardly a problem since the vast majority of our games are against encamped opposition we need to break down.

There's also nothing to say we want look for a more defensive option, and as you say Taylor can do that job when required.

Okay, but in Europe Bernabei is too risky.
Also, who does defensive coaching at our club? To me, it makes more sense to buy a player who has to be coached in the attacking part of a full back’s duties. Ange and Kewell can do this.

Bernabei has a far higher ceiling than Jeahze. He’s also seemingly more suited to how we play.

He’s going to be up the park a lot, CCV, Starfelt and if he’s here Souza will be covering him a lot. We’ve got to accept that. But he’s got an engine, he won’t have a problem getting back.

It is a fruitful pass market for Lanús. Without a doubt. In the last few hours, he closed the sale of Alexandro Bernabei to Celtic of Scotland for which he will receive some 3.5 million clean dollars . This is added to the nearly 10 million US dollars that Palmeiras de Brasilpaid for striker José López , an operation sealed last week. And in the next few days he could receive an offer from abroad for Tomás Belmonte .

Bernabei's departure was agreed in the middle of this week and the 21-year-old left-back has already traveled to the UK. As they confirmed to Clarín from the representation company Oller Group, the player began this Thursday with the medical review process in London and then traveled to Scotland and signed for five years with Celtic, who won eight of the last nine Scottish Premiership .

He is the first Argentine footballer to move to the Glasgow team. In turn, Lanús will keep 10 percent of a future sale . Bernabei played a total of 79 games dressed in maroon, scoring three goals and providing eight assists . A couple of days ago he said goodbye with a "I love you all" from the South club. And on Monday the preseason will begin with his new teammates.

The old “but in Europe” chants are back. Won’t matter when we beat Bayern 7-6.

Couldn't be more wrong bud, it's much easier to help a player develope defensively that it is to try and learn them how to beat a man 1vs1

He might be risky in the short term, we’ll need to see.

I think it’s a bit simplistic to say Kewell was an attacker and therefore knows nothing about coaching defensively.

Also at the end of the day Taylor is a defensive left back, but there’s no amount of coaching that will add yards of pace and dribbling for him to beat a man. Full back defending, however, is something that can be coached with positioning, knowledge and discipline.

Spotted this morning at Glasgow airport, sounds like the medical was done yesterday in London by that article. All he has to do now is sign and do the promotional stuff. Hopefully an announcement soon :ynwacelti

100% correct. Attacking is skill and confidence based, defending is a education. My dad played half back and was a firm believer in what you mentioned mate. Very analytical in his approach.

Well blow me down with a feather. The person who would like us to play 10-0-0 formation and have a tactical set up of the goalkeeper launching high balls into the opposition half all game is rubbishing the idea of an attacking full back.

Pace can be gained with the help of a fitness coach, and dribbling is a skill, too.

Nah make it 1pm and then Jota at 3pm, with strong rumours of Souza… now that’d make the weekend! Ah * it! Announce a triple signing to send the other half of Glasgow into meltdown, totally ruining their weekend :giggle1:

If you don’t have the attributes to be an attacking player at 21 then no amount of coaching will change that.

Come on mate, you just sound daft now. Stop digging.
