Probably more controversial, Rodgers regime set us back years, due to him hiring Congerton and the damage he done behind the scenes.

Either way, thanks to our self sabotage and the huns covid assisted success, I didn't think we would be near a league title for a few years and I'm delighted in that respect. I also agree with the original post that we are probably not where we should be, re Europe but that's nothing new really.

I would take it all the way back to when we qualified for the group stages of the CL under Lennon two years in a row and had been in the last 16 the season before.

That second season we got there we were no where near ready and had a good thing going predominantly with recruitment. We had brought in and sold the likes of Wanyama, Ki, Forster, VVD (was still there), Hooper and made a good amount of money from their sales which was being reinvested in cheaper and cheaper replacements and more and more loans.

We took the Ronny gamble that didn’t pay off and continued this loans and cheap buys. Rodgers level as a coach papered over the cracks and we got back to getting good fees for a few players.

However Rodgers set up with Congerton and refusing to let players leave when good offers came in because our recruitment to replace them was so poor really put us back. See if Boyata for £9m and Ntcham at £14m to Porto wanted to go, we should have had players lined up to come in at knowing that’s how we worked in player trading.

It would have been a big ask replacing Moussa, Ntcham, Armstrong and Boyata in one window but having £50m to do it should have allowed a competent recruitment department to have a good go at it especially given we already had Eddy as a starting Striker. We could have also upgraded a past his best Lustig and provided proper back up for Tierney.

Those failures meant we basically lost all our good players anyway as Ntcham deteriorated, Boyata was out and in injured and poor that year, Lustig struggled and Tierney was crippled with over use injuries.

Abada - Far too inconsistent; disappears in games and its still 50-50 whether he will emerge as a top quality player

I'm not a violent person but if anyone ever calls Parkhead 'Parkers' in front of me they're getting slashed to bits.

When fans say why would he want to go to a mid table team in England when he can play champions league here. Likely 6 games against a couple of good teams and an okay team or Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal guaranteed. Can see why a player would go there. That’s not even factoring in wages.

I'm a big fan of his but wouldn't even say your opinion is controversial.

Wingers are notoriously inconsistent, never mind a just turned 20 year old. Remember how long it took us to see a regular tune out of Forrest.

Saying that, his end product is extremely consistent

Juranovic is a * player with very little attributes. The team has carried him and he is an awful influence in the dressing room, always starting fights. He also has bad B.O. He would not be worth signing for any team. Keep him as punishment. :fear:

Celtic should have an American football team.

    The Juranovic love in.

I must have watched a different season.

Juranovic is a good player, his best game was the February destruction of Sevco when he had a simply exquisite performance, but he is not even close to the levels that some are suggesting.

His passing to his team mates at times is like firing an Exocet missile at them and his crossing is, at best, so so.

He shared the right back role with the excellent Ralston and filled in at left back. He is to be commended for that. Spare me the comparisons with Daniel Fergus or KT. He is miles away from them.

I understand he has played well for his country at left back too.

I would like him to stay as I think Ange could iron out his deficiencies, but if some club offer stupid money for him then so be it.

I would be more concerned at losing Ralston

Getting Mick Nicholson's face tattooed over my own face is an appropriate response to this transfer window.

Juranovic is a good player, but he slightly overrated by our support imo.

That doesn't mean I want to lose him, and I do think he's better than Ralston.
