    I paused it on Kilmarnock.

Give McInnes and Lafferty a nice welcome back to the big league.

The champions will kick off their defence of the SPFL cinch Premiership title with a home game against Aberdeen on Sunday, July 31 (KO: 16.30).

Ange Postecoglou’s Celts never stopped last season and they will be determined to start the 2022/23 campaign with a home win over the Pittodrie side.

The teams met three times in the league last term with the Celts winning each of the games by a single goal with scores of 2-1 away, followed by the same score at Celtic Park then a 3-2 win on the road again.

The first meeting at Pittodrie was a particularly crucial game with the win, thanks to goals from Kyogo and Jota, being a turning point on the way to the title.

Celtic will then travel to Ross County the following weekend and stay on the road the week after that with a trip to Rugby Park to play the returning Kilmarnock who the Hoops haven’t played since a 4-0 win in Ayrshire on February2, 2021.

The next home game will be against Hearts, and the Celts will also be at home for the first Glasgow derby of the season which is scheduled for Saturday, September 3.

Always thought the Champions should kick off the league season, we are effectively unfurling the flag to start the campaign, 24 hours after every other * has already played.

Will be good to have more Saturday home games this season, pints always taste better after if you've not got work the next day.

Also got a wedding on the 30th so quite glad the sheep game is the Sunday (4.30pm is * for those having to travel as mentioned above).
