Tbf he is really active in animal rights, he worked on Earthlings and Dominion. The guy obviously feels strongly about it and is using his platform to try and inform others.

A lot of people will probably change though mate, that’s the thing. People put a lot of stock into what celebrities say for some strange reason.

Aye don’t get me wrong, stuff about animal rights is fair enough. It’s usually stuff about politics that’s tiresome to hear from those people again and again.

Brad Pitt’s opening line in his acceptance speech being an example.

It does... in most cases. But I'd like to think that Phoenix has the credibility and bona-fides to pull it off though.

He's not preachy or shouty, and he walks-the-walk... and he Walks The Line! He's saying what he says because he absolutely believes in it... unlike many luvvy twats who come out with insincere PC bullshit purely for self-promotion.

After the awards season he will disappear from public view - just as he's always done - and work quietly away at his animal rights projects.

    Ironic.

Don’t know a celebrity who spouts pish about causes they care about more than Gervais. And I say that as a massive fan of him.

Thought his speech was a bit ridiculous at times but fair play to him, even though I don’t agree with him, using the biggest platform an actor will ever have and saying what you actually believe in.

If he wasn’t always out doing activism and getting arrested for what he believes in I would probably be in here thinking it was just another Hollywood type preaching about the usual (gender equality, racism, pay gap, representation) without actually doing anything about it.

He really didn’t give a * and just stood up there until he was finished no matter how uncomfortable people were as well :57:

Just watched it. Thought it was fantastic. Not really into all that D.C. Marvel thing but this was way different from all that superhero stuff. Liked how nature and society combined to make him what he was. Thought De Niro played his part well.

    A musical?

Feel like its the kind of thing that could be unreal if done right, or horrendous.

    Yep.

Actually intrigued to see Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. Weirdly feels like a decent fit.
