    Socialism/anarchy only seems to work until you make money. Then capitalism reigns supreme.

    @Northerner

    What’s the Nico thing you mentioned? I’ve never noticed that.

    There's a book called Capitalist Realism that I really liked that talked about this. There's no real escape from capitalism, everything can and will be monetised, and that includes anti-capitalism.

    Think of films like Parasite, a film that is anti-capitalist in its nature is then packaged, marketed, and sold to consumers. It's gobbled up by capitalist institutions, the Oscars, Hollywood at large, etc. and highly praised for its messages.

    These anti-capitalist pieces of art act out our anti-capitalist impulses for us, so we can scratch the itch of capitalist injustice we've all been feeling and go back to being good old consumers.

    It's a complicated one. She was raped by a Black American soldier and seemed to develop a hatred of Black people from there, but she was also partial to anti-Semitism and came out with various anti-Semitic comments. There's a section on the personal life section of her Wiki (I know, I know) that talks about the various instances of racism, mainly personal accounts from people that knew her.

    Cheers mate. I’ve never paid much attention to her really. Always blamed her for trying to ruin one of my favourite bands.

    Even John Lydon was advertising butter a few years back.

    If the Pistols sold out there is no hope for anyone.

    Queen, except John Deacon, he knew that without Freddie it would just be a couple of sad old gits with some * pretending to be Freddie.

    The pistols didn't really sell out, they were always a commercial band. Their songs were never socialist.

    The Stone Roses reversing some of their tracks and having Ian Brown mumble indecipherable lyrics over them. Not that the latter mattered too much anyway.

    Still love The Roses tho...

    He had an affair with a much younger woman. His wife found out and has basically kept him in ever since.

    They weren’t really together long enough to sell out

    I wish the clash had stayed well away from funk.

    Showing my age... used to love Jethro Tull but they should've quit after the Stormwatch album.

    Just been a sad bunch of old gits ever since and STILL trying to be relevant FFS. Give it a rest, Ian...

    Another band I quite liked was Bloc Party and their debut album Silent Alarm, they also "evolved" into making utter *
