Aye he’s said he felt time was up on it and he needed to go, made it clear he was leaving. Considering that we risked his career with no thought about the boys safety and future career I don’t blame him at all in that.

He didn't go out his way to force a move because no club at the scale of Arsenal were ever seriously interested in him

Tierney is a real tim, he grew up going to all the games, had Celtic all over his house, he was no fake fan, but when that kind of opportunity presents itself it's understandable why it's extremely difficult to turn down even though Tierney had real emotional feelings towards the club

He was leaving that summer regardless. Never said he was a fake fan, I fully back why he left. He thought he might need to retire at us and we didn’t give a single * about looking after him.

Can’t say I agree with this to be honest.

If it’s lowish wages and needed to tick some sort of homegrown box then okay, but outside of that I don’t see why we would do this.

Hopefully he proves me wrong but we definitely need another winger just in case.

I love Gump, I think he has been a fantastic servant but another 3 year deal? Absolutely madness.

He is a shadow of the player he was, injury’s are now catching up with him and he has lost a yard of pace when he has made his cameo this season.

1 year deal would have been enough.

I was saying last night that I hoped he would at least offer something and maybe get a goal to finish his career here in style. Instead he barely popped his head up in the game and offered absolutely nothing as he has done (or not done) for a couple of seasons now.

I think this is madness. We need another winger in that offers something.

I imagine he would've knocked a year back..

This will be his last contract. 3 year's is a lot though. He isn't first team now, nevermind in 2/3 year's..

It may be to do with the homegrown quota though as mentioned and us no having too many in the first team, particularly of quality..

Aye could be the home grown part for Europe.

Just think 3 years is a bit much, love him I really do but it’s like the McCarthy deal still shaking my head at that as well.

Maybe he has his part to play still.

Glad Ange is seeing what I’m seeing. Forrest still has serious quality. His first touch and passing yesterday was top notch.

Surprised at this to be honest. He will be on good money I reckon, and has contributed very little this season. I think his time was up.

His experience over the last 2 years is of being constantly injured and looking a shadow of the player he once was.

This contract offer is based on pure nostalgia, he doesn't have anything to offer the team any more.

Unlike the McCarthy deal. He actually played a significant part last week and actually wasn’t too bad yesterday. Forwards are more productive than him now and long may it continue. You should always be striving for better. He has a part to play though. Ange values the training pitch as much as he does the football pitch. I’m sure he has reasons for offering Jimmy a new deal.

His experience is he is a multiple title winner, CL player and a generally quiet unassuming bhoy. You can’t have enough of that about training Monday to Friday with a new group of players not used to success. Especially one who is happy knowing they will be used rotationally and won’t be a * behind the scenes.

I trust Ange on this one.

All comes back to that really. We’ve no reason to cast doubt on any decision he makes.

    There’s a world of difference between thinking a player is done and offering a player who’s turning 31 a 3 year deal…

If we're offering contracts to folk based on their past achievements then we'd be as well telling Paul Lambert to get his boots back on.

I just hope the contract offer was discussed with Ange, because I'm sure a few transfers have been made without his input.

I'm not a big fan of this sentimentality that seems to be prevalent at our club. The big clubs don't operate this way, if one of your players that was once good isn't as good as they once were they are out the door. As it should be
