CELTIC ace Kyogo Furuhashi has been voted sixth in the Asian Ballon d'Or awards after his outstanding start at Parkhead this season.

The Japanese international has already scored 16 goals for Celtic this season and was this week joined by countrymen Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi in Glasgow.

He also impressed with Vissel Kobe before he moved to Celtic and he was listed in sixth place in the Best Footballer in Asia award, which was created by Chinese newspaper Titan Sports in 2013 as an Asian answer to the Ballon d'Or.

Asian managers and football experts vote for the award.

    Spurs ace
Son Heung-min won the award for the fifth time, ahead of Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun, who plays for Zenit St Petersburg.

Also ahead of Furuhashi were Porto playmaker Mehdi Taremi, Saudi Arabian star Salem Al-Dawsari and Arsenal ace Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The award is eligible to any player that originated from an Asian Football Confederation nation or plays for a team in the continent.

Sixth from a continent of 4.5 billion people, or 60% of the world's population - not bad at all.

Half a season and already has a very decent highlight reel. That curled pass behind the Hearts defence is still...:100:

A powerful Japanese figurehead has demanded Kyogo and his fellow Celtic stars enter quarantine before crucial World Cup qualifiers.

And if the Japanese FA cave into his demands, it would mean that up to four of the Hoops squad would miss potentially miss six at a crucial stage of the season

Japan face China on February 27 and Saudi Arabia on February 1 in a vital World Cup double-header at home and Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate are all hoping to be in their squad.

Strict restrictions have banned foreigners from entering the country, the Japanese FA have announced that all domestic players in the squad will have to self-isolate after the last game against the Saudis for two weeks.

That's outraged J League clubs because it means they will miss their star players for important matches and they point out they are being penalised for having players in the Japan squad.

Now Hiroshi Mikitani, owner of Furuhashi's former club Vissel Kobe and one of the country's most prominent businessmen, has argued that it is against the Japanese constitution to allow their foreign-based players to leave the country and force their domestic players to stay in isolation.

He said: "This is crazy. So the players in Japan from our clubs have to isolate for two weeks and the players from overseas clubs return home immediately and go back and immediately start playing?

Can someone tell me why our overseas players get to leave? It is a violation of freedom of movement, human rights and goodwill.

"I am paying the salary of my players, but they will be detained and restricted just because Japan is playing an international football match

"They will all be playing against athletes who have had to have many PCR tests. How can this be deemed to be in the public interest?

Furthermore, I believe by discriminating against the home-based players, this is clearly unconstitutional."

If the Japanese FA decided to extend their self-isolation rule to overseas players, it could potentially cause the Hoops quartet to miss a string of important games.

They will already miss Hearts away and Dundee United and Rangers at home for the World Cup qualifiers, but could also be out for matches against Motherwell and Aberdeen away and a Scottish Cup fifth round tie before returning for the first leg of the Europa Conference League clash with Bodo/Glimt.

He can * off - surely we'd be within our rights not to release players if these sort of measures were imposed?

He actually does have a point though.

And i don't think think hes trying to get the quarantine rules applied to foreign players, but the quarantine rules relaxed on domestic ones .

Hes concerned about his club players. Not actually having a go at ours.

Imo hes well within his rights to raise it.

The rags have just framed it as detrimental to us for clickbait hunnery.

Hopefully this will see them staying put.No way we’re going to lose 4 important players for 1/3 of the games left in the season. That’s reason enough to deny them going.

If players have to quarantine, Japan will most likely play away from home. Australia have been playing most of their home games in the Middle East.

Anyone know the severity of Kyogo's last injury?

Ange said on boxing day it was nothing serious but I haven't seen him in any of the training videos. We need to be so careful with him in the second half of the season. Can't be rushing him back or allowing him to play if it means he's gonna injure himself again.

Would be a shame if they were all to come down with 'injuries' before having to go away.

Talk about timing, man. Our luck is ridiculous.
