Know he's just in the door but any chance of Johnny Kenny getting a run out from the bench?

    Actually looking forward to this.

There was alot of talk last year of increase in matchday revenue for league 2 clubs with local celtic supporters coming along etc which is why I think the lowland league jumped on it after it was rejected by the league 2 clubs but that hasn't really happened this season crowds seem to be pretty poor tbh. Looking for opinions on why there's not been much interest ?

There still is Covid a bit impacting on things, in terms of home games it's a bit if a trek to the penny cars so that is likely a factor. Timing meant I missed one that I was going to go to nearby.

Part of it will just be that it's "only the lowland league" as as lacking in glamour that league 2 is its still that bit bigger, I think if you were to look at gates for games against us or the huns they will he above average in attendance compared to others

Ben Summers began this season in the Under-18s, but his determination to recover from an injury set-back has seen him not only start, but also find the net for Celtic B.

The 17-year-old was in the starting XI for Celtic B’s first fixture of 2022 – also scoring the first goal of the year by notching the opener in their 2-0 win against Caledonian Braves.

The young hoops currently sit third in the Lowland League table, equal on points with Rangers B and have now won seven consecutive league outings and are also eight games unbeaten thanks to a 1-1 draw with Clyde in the Glasgow Cup in the mix as well.

Summers feels the squads’ competitiveness and desire to move up the table is reflective in the recent results of Tommy McIntyre’s side.

He said: “We’re definitely in it as a team and that shows, whenever we score a goal we’re all buzzing,” he said.

“Tommy mentioned that the other day - he likes it when we’re all happy when we score a goal.”

McIntyre’s side are set to travel south this Saturday to play Gretna 2008. The last time these two teams played, Celtic managed to grab a goal and the three points at the Penny Cars Stadium, but as Summers says it wasn’t a straightforward victory.

“It’ll be tough because in the game at home they sat in and defended well against us. It took a wonder-goal from Ben Wylie to get the win so I’m just expecting the same to be honest,” he said.

“This week we’ve been working on trying to break their press, they’ll sit in against us and try to make things hard - so we’re prepared for that.”

After taking a while to “find their feet” in the Lowland League, Summers reckons Celtic B’s attacking play of recent has been excellent and that playing in such a league has been great for all the players' development, especially with having no reserve league last year

“Not only with our attacking play, but defensively we’re not giving away any cheap goals. We’re just getting more and more experience with the league.

'This year it’s a lot better because we’re playing against men and we’re playing games regularly, sometimes twice a week. It’s mimicking the professional game.'

Coming into the B team, the youngster expected the games to be physical but wasn’t expecting the opposition players to be so experienced – with many of them having played in the professional leagues in Scotland.

“Some of them are really good technically as well,” he added.

Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic are currently the front runners in the league table, but mathematically, if the B team continue their winning run and results go their way there is still a chance to put themselves on top of the table.

“We would need a lot of results to go in our favour, but we’ve got a game against Bonnyrigg in two weeks’ time so if we can win that game we have a chance.” Summers added.
