CCV and Jota are still both very young players in the development of their respective positions. I'd imagine that they'll be offered good increased terms to sign, with buy-out clauses that are beneficial to both and that we'll get another year or 2 out of each before they either move on or plateau and finish up staying.

Don't think any big clubs will go for them yet, until we've shown them at proper European level, and then it only leaves mediocre English teams offering bigger wages as our competition. I think they'll choose to show themselves on the European platform first, personally

Ange Postecoglou's Celtic transfer drive continues at full throttle as talks opened over a permanent deal for Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The Parkhead side thrilled fans with the treble signing of Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate on New Year's Eve but have more transfers in the pipeline.

Talks have commenced with Tottenham Hotspur regarding on-loan Carter-Vickers following a strong start to life at Celtic Park.

The club are negotiating have begun negotiations with the Premier League outfit over a quick-fire deal for the American centre-back.

Celtic have an option to buy the 24-year-old as part of the initial summer loan agreement.

It is believed that figure is around £6 million and with significant add ons that could take the deal significantly up.

A Spurs source has confirmed that talks have now kicked off and there could be room for movement in the deal, in terms of the fee, the period it is paid up in and future add-ons.

Getting him in permanently in this window is massive. A real statement of intent.

    Jota, we're coming for ye.

They wanted shot of him before this window and would have happily taken half that. No way we should be paying 6.

Possibility why in the above article the suggestion is that there is room for negotiation on what the deal would be. Lets hope it works out and we get him signed to a long term deal that would be brilliant.

Knowing Daniel Levy, I wouldn’t even be surprised if that’s what they’re looking for and that’s why a few wasn’t agreed upfront back in August. Part of the problem with having first refusal, but not a set price is that we actually have to negotiate with that idiot.

If the price was £6m now with no sell on, it's a steal in my opinion. * has been absolutely solid for us. I still think we should be able to get the overall fee down. Get CCV on a permanent deal, loan Wolff for 6 months with option to buy for £7m and get both Jota, Wolff and Maeda in permanently in the summer. * it, chuck in Gudmondssen anaw on a free. Just for the banter.

I would agree with that in terms of a price for CCV. If we had to pay 6m but no sell on clause for a percentage of profits then I would say we should do a deal along those lines. I can easily see CCV being worth at least double that if not more in a couple of seasons. We paid 7m for Jullien and given what I have seen from CCV this season 6m is a price worth paying for him.

The asking price got down to 6mil, then add-ons took it back up to 10 mil. Totts are playing hardball, not Angeball atm.
CCV is very talented but, Celts should not and will not pay that. Souttar is effective yet barely 1-2mil. Just because he is coming from Tottenham does not justify a price that high. There are multiple Centre halves out there with talent. He is not an aerial specialist, yet would still be too expensive even if he was. I would justify 4.5 - 5mil because he is very well performed.

Being honest, at first I wasn't totally convinced but has grown by the game and is now an automatic pick. To find out he's only 24 is unreal. As others have said, plays well beyond his years, very calm and composed. Would love to get him permanently.

There's better news from a Celtic perspective where Cameron Carter-Vickers is concerned as noises coming out of the club suggest talks are progressing well over a permanent deal.

The American has hit the ground running since joining on loan from Tottenham and has missed just two games for the Hoops.

The Parkhead side hold an option to buy of around £6m and want to make the deal permanent.

It's not quite that straightforward, with Sky Sports reporting Celtic and Spurs are locked in talks over payment structure

But it's understood talks are progressing well and an agreement between the clubs before the end of the season seems likely.

Ahead of US Internationalist Cameron Carter-Vickers moving to Celtic on the last day of the summer transfer window, American journalist Larry Henry Jr from SBI Soccer provided The Celtic Star will detailed insight into the Tottenham player’s attributes and his aspirations in the game which were so suited to what was on offer at Celtic under Ange Postecoglou. Henry’s insight, linking Cameron-Vickers to Celtic was pretty much the first link and came very early in the transfer window shortly after Ange Postecoglou took over from interim manager John Kennedy at the end of June 2021.

Larry Henry Jr has contacts close to the American international defender who has so impressed since completing what turned out to be a loan move rather than a permanent transfer and recently Ange Postecoglou confirmed that this was the way things worked out simply because there wasn’t the time to complete the permanent move ahead of the summer window slamming shut. The Celtic manager though made no secret of the fact that he wants to convert both summer loan deals – for permanent contract in this transfer window and talks are currently ongoing with Tottenham re Cameron Carter-Vickers and Benfica re Jota to hopefully make those deals happen.

The Celtic Star: Cameron Carter-Vickers has been an excellent signing for Celtic, arriving on loan from Tottenham, what have you been most impressed about?

Larry Henry Jr, Managing Editor – SBI Soccer: I know Cameron has been on several loan spells from Spurs over the years, but I am impressed with his quick transition to the Scottish Premiership. He jumped right into Ange’s plans and hasn’t come out of the squad at all barring a slight personal issue which caused him to miss a match. Cam is a talented player and a hardworking professional and I think he’s become a fan favorite at Celtic Park so far.

The Celtic Star: Celtic are looking to make the deal permanent, have you heard anything stateside regarding this?

Larry Henry Jr, Managing Editor – SBI Soccer: Per a source close to the player, I know Celtic is trying to get this deal done in January, although I’m not sure it will because Tottenham may wait until the summer. I think honestly it would be best for both Celtic and Tottenham to agree to a deal now rather than wait, but sadly I am not in control of those talks.

The Celtic Star: After a few loan spells, Carter-Vickers has really settled in Glasgow, what do you think it has been down to?

Larry Henry Jr, Managing Editor – SBI Soccer: I believe Celtic is a great environment for any player, whether young or old. Cam is looking for the best opportunity to develop and round out his game and I think Celtic has shown in the past, they will give opportunities if you work hard. Tim Weah is another American international who I thought did well at Celtic when he needed game time.

The Celtic Star: Is the player enjoying his time with Celtic?

Larry Henry Jr, Managing Editor – SBI Soccer: He is. A source close to the player did tell me back in the fall that Cam has been enjoying the time in Glasgow and with Celtic. He just wants to play regularly and give the team the best chance to win and I think he is doing well at both. Celtic will be pushing for the Premiership title and I think Cam is a big part of that.

I'd be gutted if we didn't sign him, weirdly almost more than Jota. He's easily been our best CB, and along with McGregor and maybe Ralston, one of our most consistent players all season. He seems to have great temperament as well, coming across as fairly quiet but also professional, determined and unflappable.
