He’s a completely different footballer to Taylor but he has several attributes which are better, undeniably.

I like him, classy and has a presence.

Should be ahead of Taylor in the pecking order.

Should be our starting left back and Taylor should never see the light of day again.

Getting better game on game. His ceiling lot higher than any left back at the club. Love his attitude.

Outwith a couple of decent balls in the box thought he was poor.

He's done ok so far, still think a lb is needed.

He is a far better all round player than Taylor is in my opinion.

He is a better all round player than Taylor. Good potential and looks like he can score given the opportunity.

I love how he gets his head up before he crosses and then whips them in with pace low or high. Taylor always seems to either rush his crosses or take too long to get them off, then underhits or overhits them.

Taylor is probably the better player right now but Scales’ ceiling is * MILES higher and he’s not too far off him at the minute. And I’ve been one of Taylor’s defenders.

I would agree with that. Think he is very comfortable in possession defends well 1v1 and in general. He is vastly better in the air. Delivery into the box has been decent. The main area I feel he is short on is like Taylor I don't see him skinning other defenders and really getting at other teams full backs. Obviously Tierney is not a player you can replace easily but I don't feel in the attacking third he has the pace and or 1v1 ability to beat players and create problems for teams with the ball that way like Tierney could or even close to that. Having said all that with Scales emergence recently and Taylor been where he is hopefully we can now sell Bolingoli in January and get him off the books. I still feel though we need to be looking for a better level of player to be our main starter at left back. If you compare Juaranovic and Ralston at right back we are clearly set there but at left back with Scales and Taylor I do not feel we are there yet.

I don’t think he’s good enough for us from what I’ve seen. I reckon his level is going to be a hibs/hearts or English championship.

Might seem a bit harsh so soon, but just get that feeling. He’ll be decent enough domestically but that’s it.

Another decent performance yesterday, can see him being an important squad player for the rest of the season.
Not much between him and Taylor at the moment, Scales has potential to improve, Taylor is maxed out and wont improve.
Bottom line, both will do a job but right now, we need a better player. And if that means selling Taylor and Boli, so be it. Get them 2 off the payroll, get in a few million in transfer fees and bring in a better quality player.

I see what you mean by this yesterday. Players have a very clear place to be positionally, I feel like he goes wandering thinking he can go wherever he wants. He sometimes ends up in the way.

I think scales has been fairly decent so far but I do think we need much better at lb, than him and taylor
