2 league appearances a goal and assist..

    Lost man for equaliser...

Although I like him, we need real quality at LB..

    Better than Taylor..

Still a bit raw and inexperienced which is to be expected..

Has promise but still raw. Even allowing for Ange tactics he's far to forward and in other games will get caught out with that

I like him. Not a starter yet but looks very useful

I like the big *, think he’s silky and composed in possession. He’s got levels to go up as well.

Doesn’t seem phased by anything and is level headed. Has to be given time.

Miles ahead? Honestly thought Scales looked shaky at times defensively but he's generally very good on the ball and has already shown what he can do in the final third, I honestly think Taylor offers nothing at either end.

    Disagree..

    Quicker
    Stronger
Better in air obviously (although poor at the goal)
Actually looks better in the final third crossing or getting the shot away

He's raw definitely but he is much better suited to us and takes more risks than Taylor by far...who's very safe..

Wouldn’t say he’s looked quicker at all. He looks slow as *…

And being stronger counts for * all if you can’t get close to who you’re up against. Similar with the air, he’s taller so will be easier for him but he’s not shown he can put a decent challenge in the air.

Again I don’t even rate Taylor but Scales just looks like a poor mans Mulgrew. Taylor is far more suited to this team in the inverted role.

Not miles ahead, would say neck and neck.
Thing is, Taylor will not improve where as Scales has potential to improve.
Would actually play both on Sunday. With Taylor at LB and Scales in place of Monty.

Ye he was caught for the goal but I think he's a better defender than he has shown. He's raw and I think we will see him rotated a lot but all the potential is there for him to really really improve. Like I said few after the Dundee utd game he looks lot stronger and fitter than when I saw him with rovers. He most definitely has the highest ceiling at left back

not think he looked laboured getting back, across 15 yards has no quick zip when sprinting, was poor for the goal tackling with his feet - he is not a starter in the team, i think if this new Japanese player comes in he will make the spot his. the biggest concerns for me are lack of height and aerial threat in ange's team - attacking and defensively. we need to put men on the posts when defending corners. Last nights goal could joe hart came for it? perhaps one of his weaknesses is not coming for cross balls.

Funny the difference in opinions for him :56:

I think there's a lot of positives to work with, wouldn't shock me if he becomes our back-up LB in the future. I think he'll come good defensively, it's a tough system to come to grips with.

Scales was a centre back for years in the LOI at different clubs. It was only in the last year or so that he moved to the left side, often in a wing back role.

I actually like him going forward. Good on the ball. Gets stuck in.

He's let himself down several times defensivly. Often diving in. Taking himself out of the game. And also losing his man for the goal.

He's also moving from being at a professional LOI club, but this training regime will be a huge step up. There's a lot more to come from him. But he's very versatile. Could be a Mulgrew type player.

I think he's got scope to be excellent for us. Think he'll prove to be a very very good signing for us once he's really up to speed.

I don't think he'll even be on the bench once we get players fit and new players in Jan.
