He's updated his own Linkedin, much to be expected, the club will be the * last to announce this.
    Useless * :56:

Comes with a decent CV, would seem he has been well looked after and thought of at Spurs, considering who he has worked under and how long he lasted there during the last decade, where Spurs certainly came up in the world of football.
Seems then, Friedel must have been impressed at Spurs with him, and gave him a crack at proper coaching, before trying his hand back home.

We seem to then have taken him on back in a more familiar (and successful) role as Sports Scientist.
His stint at Spurs suggests he could be loyal, if this is him finding out that management wasn't his calling.
On paper, much needed appointment and lets hope he brings a bit of know how from his Spurs and MLS ventures - which you would expect are both at a much higher and professional level than what we generally have at this club.

An interesting read about McElhone https://widthofapost.com/2019/01/09...-citys-revival/amp/?__twitter_impression=true.

It is based on his impact at Bradford as an assistant but it is more the Friedel and Tottenham input on what he did there and his attention to detail which makes good reading.

He hasn’t worked with Ange before but based on his CV and approach he sounds like he would align with Ange’s approach of getting players to significant fitness levels and doing all we can’t to maximise recovery. Another thing that will be important is he has worked with a club who have played European football and domestic so will be aware of the fitness and recovery challenges this can create.

Anybody else noticed a severe upswing in our players fitness since he’s came in?

Def. This was very evident tonight. Bhoys were running hard right to the final whistle. Very noticeable in Turnbull when compared to last season especially. All starts from the top. Getting the right people in the right roles, and letting them do what their specialised in.

    Without doubt.

Ange has said he's having an influence already, and it most certainly shows in all areas

Aye, definitely. Wonder what Jack Nayler was doing because he is definitely very highly rated, running things over at Salzburg now but we look much, much fitter.

I know but I was meaning we were really fit under Brendan Rodgers but i don't think the sports scientist staff changed much after he left which begs the question * went on last season

Think by the end of Rodgers era we were absolutely *, had ran Tierney into the ground, destroyed Rogic, knackered Calmac, had a fat Griffiths, Lustig overplayed and *, and were relying on loans like Weah and Olly Burke to come in and up the workrate.

The now’s the best I can remember us since his 2nd season.

Well there were rumours he didn't like Lennon because Lennon didn't value that aspect of the game . That was when he came in to replace Rodgers. I thought it was alot of pish at the timev

Yeah pretty much this… Lennon didn’t value the sports science side as much or at all really. And it showed in the team and how the fitness gradually declined over time.
