Watching the clips I instantly thought he stood out when he was in the middle..

Tenacious, pressing and looks a perfect box to box 8. Something we're majorly lacking. Looks to have it in the final third as well..

Him and Maeda would be class..

 

Like it has been mentioned above Hatate won’t be signed as a left back, if he is signed he will be a box to box CM where he has played recently for Kawasaki Frontale.

The boy is a gifted player on the ball and would suit Ange’s high energy style. Having not good Ao Tanaka, Hatate would be a good pick up.

He played in an attacking midfield role for the Japan Olympic team and occasionally off the left wing, however he has recently played a box to box, 8 type role for his club in a midfield 3.

Given he has been compared to full backs in the statistical analysis the comparisons don’t mean much as it’s not comparing like for like.

On his contract, Japanese business contracts tend to be a one year rolling arrangement. Not sure if this applies to football but may be the case if we are negotiating with his club.

 

If he's behind the strikers as an attacking mf, Maeda, Johnson, Forrest and Abada as wingers. That mean Jota won't be signed then?! This boy looks pretty good. Be good to enter a transfer window proactively.

 

Its refreshing we are actually looking at positions required under ange ! Under lennon we seemed to sign players for positions we didnt need

 

Ignoring the giveaway that a lot of them have been Japanese, there is a pattern emerging here with strongly linked Ange targets. Fast, technical and work hard.

If he can stay the course, I think we could potentially be absolutely dynamite next season.

Celtic are in discussions with Japanese star Reo Hatate with a view to a potential January switch.

The Kawasaki Frontale player has held preliminary talks with the Hoops.


A versatile footballer, Hatate can play along the defence - predominantly as a left-back - as well as in the midfield.

Hatate's deal with his current J-League club comes to an end in January which would coincide with the start of the transfer window for Celtic.

Football Scotland understands the two have already begun negotiations along with Hatate's agent.

And the Glasgow giants see the 23-year-old as a midfield option.



Celtic could potentially pay a small fee in a bid to try and get the player in the door earlier but, with his deal expiring on January 31, they could also be willing to hold off for a free transfer.

Hatate has represented Japan in their Olympic side four times earlier this year in July 2021

Apparently he was emotional & crying today as his club lifted the title. The same guy who’s stating this is saying his club are likely to extend the contract , but he’s likely heading to us

Think the Japanese footballing system is pretty different. A lot of these guys go to university before turning professional, although unsure if that's the case here.

Seems a lot of players in Japan are in university until their early twenties. Kyogo had only played about 80 odd games before he turned 24.
