I'm sure they said there's a 1 year extension they can trigger, so he won't be out of contract in the summer if they decide to use it. And I'm sure they will if he does well here, as they will know they can get at least the £3m from us, if not more from elsewhere.

Nah in general. Starfelt looks awkward on the ball but I'd argue he's less likely to give the ball away. CCV is more physical than Starfelt, but other than I think they're much of a muchness. Neither of them are wholly convincing.

Starfelt had a poor start to the season and is still being judged based on that. When in reality he's been largely decent for a number of games now. CCV had a great first couple of games but has since dipped a wee bit.

I think either of them would be a pretty handy 3rd choice centre half. Hopefully Jullien can lift their game, though.

Both CCV and Starfelt seem stiff and rigid, like they aren't all that mobile. Don't know how to explain it, but just feel we can do better than both I feel like they really limit our play and ability to plau from the back effectively.

I feel people are pinning way too much hope on Jullien being the answer to the defensive issues. Nothing, from what I remember watching of him before his injury, suggests to me he will fit into Ange's style any better than the others we currently have. I'm more worried about how he plays and deals with the system at the moment than about whether he can lift anyone else's game.

I think CCV has done well, looks much more solid and reliable than Starfelt..

Hasn't done much wrong at all and looking like a very decent signing..

Hopefully both improve, Jullien's distribution isn't great either but the big man is a presence in both boxes.

Jullien and CCV will be a very solid centre half pairing if Jullien gets himself fit.

Aye. Julien needs a physical partner next to him as even though he is pretty tall and looks hod physically he got bullied quite often

But he is tidy on the ball, decent pace, and can chip in with the odd goal too

I think that CCV's passing is more positive than Starfelts.

I'd argue that one of CCV or Julien will be the first for the chop at the end of the season. Starfelt will stay due to his contract. CCV easier to dispense of as he's a loanee.

I'd agree about that first part completely. Said it myself that I don't think Jullien suits this system. But, and this is assuming he comes back the same player, he's still better than the two we have just now.

But it's definitely a real concern.

I think he perfectly fits it, great range of passing, comfortable on the ball and dominant in the air. Problem comes with him when somebody is big, strong and quick he doesn’t know how to deal with it. Big and strong and not quick he does, and small and quick be does. Just guys built like Niang or Dykes is his struggle.

    Fits perfectly outwith that

Thought he was going to rip Kane's head off after that tackle. :giggle1: Good thing Hart was straight in his ear to get him to calm down.

He shouldn't have calmed him down. Celtic are a club with Catholic roots, but we needn't be choir boys.

Wouldn't go overboard but he has been an improvement and steadied the ship. Still think we need a quality CB with ability on the ball and with good distribution.

Been a great signing, I was watching him closely today and off the ball he was constantly shouting and communicating with the other defenders.
