European Bison. They have a very successful breeding program at the reserve, many of them are re-Wilded into the grasslands of Romania.

A few from Saturday morning, i found a wee place called Milk Harbour just off the main Sligo to Donegal road, there was a lot of activity there around the estuary, i saw Mergansers, Seals, Cormorants, Grey Heron, but they were on the far side of the bay and a bit too far away for a decent photo, a big flock of hooper Swans (?) passed overhead heading for Mullachmore, i got a couple of shots on Sunday but again they were a bit far away.

Brilliant pics Johnie, and you're right, they are Whooper Swans. Beautiful birds.

Just sitting here, raeding this wonderful thread, and there's the most almighty fight in my back garden. Carrion Crows and Magpies are battling with each other in the trees in the garden. Absolutely superb to hear, and watch.

Thanks Sioux, the weather here hasn't been too bad for the time of year, it's overcast mostly but dry and mild, i'm sure there's a few crisp sunny days to come and you'll be out and about again snapping away at the outstanding Autumn colours :50:.

Susan and Johnie, there's a superb RSPB reserve called Baron's Haugh in Motherwell. Stunning place for waders and waterfowl, but the colours of the trees in Autumn is absolutely stunning. Beautiful reds , yellows and browns make it one of my favourite places in Autumn. Great place for Grasshopper Warblers and Goldcrests as well.

Early this morning I went to throw scraps out to the birds but it was to cold to walk down the garden so just hoiked them as far as I could , went to close the door and I heard the chirping from the bird box above me and looked up . A wee sparrow was poking out the box but there was 6 other sparrows perched along the guttering , this leads me to think one of 3 things
1 The wee sparrow is selling up and moving and the 6 are potential buyers .
2 The wee sparrow is sub letting the box and the 6 are interested renters .
3 the box is a house of ill repute .

    Yep ! I'm bored :)

Out with the dog this morning and came upon a fallow stag, we frightened the life of each other lol. Heard the boar in the furns as well and went the other way, dog was going mad.

It is an OK place to live, usually quiet and plenty decent people.
