Plenty players/teams in the EPL simply aren’t very good.

Do Brighton also play with a low block? He isn't suited to a high line.

Nice to see Dennis Irwin there. Seems like an age ago when he was playing and was just one of many good players we had in the team.

Celtic flop Shane Duffy is eternally grateful to Ireland boss Stephen Kenny for giving him breaks from his horrendous Parkhead spell even though his form meant his international place had been vacated.

And the Brighton defender insists even a "blind man" could have seen something was up last season.

Arriving from the Seagulls on a highly anticipated season-long loan, Duffy flopped under Neil Lennon last term.

The centre-back showed up determined to win 10 In A Row for his boyhood club but failed to hit the lofty heights expected of a regular in the English Premier League for many a year.

But Kenny continued to select him for Republic of Ireland although Duffy would be dropped for key World Cup qualifiers when he wasn't performing for Celtic.

He knows that was the right call and remains thankful he was even selected for squads when youngster Stephen Welsh was being picked ahead of him at the time.

Duffy said: "It was the right decision because I was nowhere near the level that I can show.

A blind man could have seen that I was nowhere near where I had been at.

"He still brought me into the squad to be around the lads to help if I could even if I was not playing. I accepted that.

"You have to play well to play for your country so that was the right decision."

He's playing very well so far this season. He's more like himself. Scored again tonight

Glad he sees the funny side of last season. If he spent less time getting * up in his flat when he was on loan we'd maybe have seen the player he is this season

Where has he said he found it funny ?

I dont know what he feels about that shitshow of a season, but probably very, very disappointed.

Having said that, from Sept 20 when he joined to May 21 when he left, he played 27 times and scored 3. We all know he struggled but at least he tried ( IMHO)

Over the same season Bitton appeared 21 times ( and usually didnt GAF ) and scored 3. He did manage to contract Covid after * off to Israel in October 2020 for a few weeks to play for them, whilst on sick leave and unavailable to play for Celtic.

He wasnt the only "legend" to go MIA either.

I never said SD was a legend, but he was was constantly cruelly slagged and ridiculed here ( and on other Celtic sites) AND STILL IS for his part in that debacle when there were very long-standing, highly paid squad members who escape that level of criticism, eg... he had a long term injury, he couldnt get his hair right, bootlace issues etc/

    * like Bitton and one or two others are now spoken of warmly... " I think Bitton is a solid back up, Offers a lot in Anges set up ....Cant wait to see * back ( after a year doing SFA)

Duffy might be a carthorse ( as most here think ) but carthorses are loyal, hardworking and never give up.

    I'll take a carthorse over a * show-pony any day

I was just poking fun at the use of a sentence that could have referred to either Duffy or Bitton. No idea why that word would be anywhere near either of them in the context of Celtic.

I'm not going to lie I thought Duffy was awful last season in a footballing context. From what I heard he wasn't entirely professional when up here either. I don't really hold that against him, why would I, given he was having a hard time last year obviously after the death of his dad and not helped by lockdown. Just wish he'd been dropped earlier in the season or let him end the loan early. I agree a lot of the comments about him were over the top and would have been better not said.

Good to see him doing so well this year for club and country.
