I liked this but the start is contradicted by the end , the club shouldn't pay from a legal point of view but celtic should act NOW ,to end this ,by ? ( Compensating ) I don't know , but you spoke a lot of sense but i couldn't quite understand that part .

Aye you're probably right Joe, as much as it pains me as an arrogant stubborn angry * :56:.

I agree fans are all entitled to an opinion, and my view is only mines.

To the celtic fans who have a differing opinion then I do apologise for any offence.

To the huns masquerading on here, go * yourselves :50:

    Sorry for the confusion.

I meant we shouldn't and can't pay up regarding the class action. It's just not feasible.

What we should do is find an accomodation. Not necessarily a "payout".
Perhaps a charity fund which is donated to and administered by the club etc etc

Celtic FC are correct to point out the separate entity issue. So, if Celtic FC is not regulating, licensing the coaches and boys club then who is ? ( or was at that time )

There should be someone held accountable legally.

Celtic FC might not be able to change the past but it can be at the forefront of protecting people in future.

With women's football gaining momentum then I'm sure having some input into protecting youths and females would be a good starting point.

Surely the SFA or those regulating * Football and boys clubs have some liability.

The main reason the lawyers are trying to bring Celtic FC into this is because that's where the money is. I'm guessing those licensing coaches or overseeing boys clubs, youth set up have no money.

This is going to drag on in public and the club should have acted before now to have this issue settled legally in court regards responsibility .. whether that is legal or moral responsibility.

We as a club are morally responsible

Don't let it go to court, seek mediation with the victims and let them tell their stories

    It's not that difficult

And it has nothing to do with the blue scum so could people on here stop acting like hunnish * as that is what you are doing everytime you mention them on this thread

There is a myriad of ways celtic could have resolved this without the need to see this enter the courts.

By getting this far, no matter the outcome Celtic will be coming out of the ordeal worse than they went in.

I mean, it's entirely possible that all the ways to resolve this out of court could be evidenced by the club, but equally it's just a possible that it's shown in court what celtic didn't do anything to resolve t this.

Ah ok I understand that now , yeh am sure fans would support that well ,I understand a class action is not something seen very much in the UK at all and my take on this is that most law firms have not given the case a thumbs up and this is why its been taken down a route we don't normally see , which leads me to your part that you believe lawyers acting have not given sound advice to the group .

It's a bit crass talking about compensation levels, but any sensible decision can't include driving us out of business. Impacting all the employees of the club and causing so much harm to the community for historic crimes wouldn't be fair.

Man City who are considerably richer than we are pay a maximum for £100,000. Reading some of the other cases of sexual abuse figures of around £20,000 aren't unusual.

No figure of compensation is going to make up for what happened.

If the board lose their stance as not being liable and have to pay compensation, it can't be drastically more than the precedent set.

I did say potential, There are loads of variables that need to be in play for it to get even close to happening. Club would need to be found liable and if that was to happen who knows how many victims would then come forward. I have no idea how long this went on for or how many were involved and the problem with precedents being set there is always a new one just round the corner. Would the establishment use this as a chance to * our club, would not put it past them.

What ever happens I hope the victims get some form closure when its over.
Horrible thing to carry with you through life.

I imagine the class action team and media attention would have brought out any victims who feel they need to have their say .

We are talking in the region of two or three million at most

More than money it's the principal

The club had better settle out of court .The damage to our reputation doesn't bare thinking about if we make these victims go through the legal process
