At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter if you set up like Diego Simeone, or Marcelo Bielsa.

If you have a team of players who don’t track runners, lack concentration, and don’t take any pride in a clean sheet then you won’t win any trophies.

 

None of the goals came from being too open at the back. They’ve all come from players switching off and not tracking runners or bad defensive decisions, that’s on individuals.

 

It's so hard because he's playing a starting XI and bench you usually expect to see in preseason.

That's the deplorable state he's been left in.

And yet he's tried to make something of it, and occasionally you can see little glimpses of what it could be like if he didn't have two hands tied behind his back.

It's been clear for some time the board see this as a "transitional " season.

Our attacking play is phenomenal under Ange, but he absolutely needs to learn how to sort the defence out, it's beyond horrendous.

He needs to stop with the Starfelt experiment, he might still come good, but there is zero reason for him to be in the team over Welsh, no reason.

I wasn't expecting to win tonight, and there's no doubt the missing players would have made a difference, but to throw away a 2 goal lead just like that is beyond infuriating.

Ange has a lot to learn, and he needs to learn fast.
